Seems that's the most plausible prediction to go to, it also explains how Law hadn't been caught under Doffy's clutch and was pirating around when we first met him in the series. Law may unconsciously does it though, due to his first try, and to make things worst, probably after witnessing Doffy kills Rosi within the bird cage.

It's saddening if Doffy controls Rosi to kill Law, just to hurt him further and a payback for betraying him, though the latter is reluctant to do so and opt to commit suicide driven on the little piece of will Rosi could get a hold of... man, that's frustrating...
