What a mind-blowing chapter!!

Main Points
- More content from the flashback shown
- Corazon, didn't notify Doffy about Law stabbing him. Wow. I admire him already .
- Law is a mother f**ken D. A ..."D" . - This is just too much of a surprise if you ask me, i'm fangasming atm !!!

Afterthoughts
- It was interesting to see the hatred of ordinary civilians towards the celestial dragons and gaining more information on doflamingo's background.
- Hopefully , we get to know more about the "will of D" .
xd
- How can corazon speak, i thouhhy he was a mute? Hmm its good that he can otherwise id get annoying. I dont think ive ever een a mute anime character before. Hmm

~Totatally deserves 100/100!~

I'm loving this flashback so much. It's the darkest flashback we've had so far & I never expected it to be this dark either. Oda is making us hate the CD even more now as well. I felt bad for Doffy & Law is a... D member. Wow. 5/5 chapter.

Law being a D might one of the reason why the world government let his family die.
They must have known someway some how.

Also, it looks like Law ate the Ope Ope fruit and saved his own life. Based on what doffy too him.
But maybe Doffy wanted that fruit as well.... hmmmm things are getting interesting.

One piece really never disappoints...Bleach did well this week but it was short.....Naruto was kinda boring...

Doffy back story was kinda of sad, raised at first as a god, then stuck down to live as rats must have been hard....but i still hope luffy kicks his ass....

So Law is a D, so he's a descendant from that line of kings that opposed the celestial dragons....I'm a little confused why Doffy would want to kill someone with a D.....

But anyways great chapter...

OT post here.
If Whitebeard war was legendary, I can't imagine how the last arc will be, since I've heard that Oda said that it's gonna be a world war. I would jizz my pants with epicness. O____O

5/5. Oh man, Oda, you're the MAN! This year is full with OP epic-ness. Dem dem dem :ilu:
I'm gonna simplify my comment with points below:

  • Law is a D, which i've never thought such possibility before, despite the rumour & theory. And it seems Law's mother's family has a significant name that need to be put altogether in Law's full name.
  • Corazon stumbles for a few pages in a row (including an unidentified reason of him stumbles on the floor in a panel where they're in an unknown rich people's room), gets burn in the mouth by a hot drink (Law's expression is priceless here) and caused his attire set aflame while lighting a cigarette. I can't stop laughing XD
  • Doffy is a true villain. I have a mix feelings about him, either to hate or to like or to sympathise or to be angry.
  • Corazon protects Law. For sure.
  • Either Doffy hates someone from D family or he may wanna use that person for the purpose of his pace/scheme. Corazon or Rocinante perhaps disagree with it and decides to warn Law.
  • Bad choice to live in North Blue, Donquixote family. It's the most ruthless area for living, hence WG don't even bother to care much over it.
  • Roci can talk, and he may hide the fact from Doffy for some reason, or Doffy knows Roci rarely talks ever since they were still a child.
  • One of the dark sides in OP. Great flashback, and so much cruelty has been shown.
Kinda LOLing at all the butthurt some people at Law being a D, like only five D.'s were ever gonna be in the story.
Haha true true, while i still remember how many people have complaint before TS, on why there was no extra info about D and Oda probably would forget about it *mumble*mumble*mumble*. Now here some more, still there's that unsatisfied comments. U_U

So far we have 6 families that have D in their names; Monkey, Gol, Portgas, Marshall, Jaguar, Trafalgar:
  • Monkey D Garp
  • Monkey D Dragon
  • Monkey D Luffy
  • Gol D Roger
  • Portgas D Rouge
  • Portgas D Ace *sniff*sniff*sob*sob*
  • Marshall D Teach
  • Jaguar D Saul
  • Trafalgar D Wartel/Waterloo/Walter/Water/Warter Law

Fun fact: Rocinante is Don Quixote's horse in the novel Don Quixote by Miguel de Cervantes. In many ways, Rocinante is not only Don Quixote's horse, but also his double: like Don Quixote, he is awkward, past his prime, and engaged in a task beyond his capacities.

Kinda fits his clumsy personality hehe

I'm going for Waterloo.

I always thought that Oda picked the name 'Trafalgar' simply because he liked it. It's a very nice name, however it's one that's closely associated with one major specific historic event: The Battle of Trafalgar on the 21st of October 1805. In this battle at Cape Trafalgar, which is located in Spain very close to Gibraltar, the British Royal Navy destroyed the French Navy of Napoleon, which was a major turning point in the Napoleonic Wars.

After reading this chapter though, Oda didn't just use that name because it sounds nice, he build an entire Napoleon-theme around it. If you look closely at the panel where Law almost gets stabbed by that pirate, you can see a wanted poster flying around of that pirate with his name on: Wellington. The Duke of Wellington was the guy who defeated Napoleon at...the Battle of Waterloo, which was the battle that ended the reign of Napoleon.

PS: Trafalgar Square in London is named after the Battle of Trafalgar.

I'm going for Water ... Trafalgar D Water Law (WaterLaw ... Waterloo), Trafalgar D Waterloo Law sounds a bit too much

But Oda's ability to think ahead is, as usually, amazing

That actually makes more sense. Water Law - Waterloo as Oda continuously makes word puns with the names of characters and techniques.

I like this idea, makes some sense!

Btw, these New World Flashbacks are heavy heavy stuff... Their scale and depth are beyond the scope of anything Pre-Time Skip, the only one comparable would be Robin's theme with the Banishment of Knowledge and the Prosecution of a child and entire Country to hide the dirt of the reigning World Government, and Boa Hancock and Keimi's Slavery, which was then expanded in the New World. Franky dabbed at it, with the WG's quest to eradicate any ally of Roger, but that wasn't that in-dept, and CP-5's betrayal wasn't as much WG as it was Spandam's, even though we could claim that he was still a part of the organization. But damn... the depth of what the World Government's rule is doing to the world and to individual people is breath taking.

All these stories and hardships are directly stemmed from that point in history, hundreds of years ago, when the World Government was founded. The creation of the Celestial Dragons, the acquirement of aligning Countries and the ostracization of the non-aligning countries, and all the extremely immoral and heinous acts that come from it. It's like we're seeing a huge beast moving it's paws, and from them we see the stemming cruelty infecting whole countries, families and individuals. We get Slavery and from that we see Boa Hancock and her sister, we see a whole alienation of a Race and it's discrimination, we see Fisher Tiger, we see Hatred, Racial Crimes, Abuse. The claws move again and we see abandonment of supposedly ally countries, we see Over-exploration of resources, Pollution, and we see the WG actively encouraging this, and even going as far as incite the confinement and banishment of the country's people when all goes wrong. And the beasts moves again, and we see Rebellions, Extreme Poverty, the depth of human hate not just against those are different, which is mindless hate, but hatred for those that are keeping them from Survival. North Blue's rebellious nature is, to me, not empowering, but extremely sad. They are not rebelling because their stronger, they're rebelling because they're cornered. They can't take the abuse anymore, it's either fight or extermination. The banished Donquixote Family weren't a threat, but their existence was too much connected to the despicable oppressors of the people, and it was just impossible to look past it, to a point where the rebels themselves were just as heinous and, frankly, fundamentally horrifying , as the Celestial Dragons.

And Oda goes there, he shows the World for what it is. It's easy to dismiss this as fictional, but, the fact is, you aren't as involved in the World as the Straw Hats are. Through their travel, they have seen, and keep seeing, Humanity at it's worth. These appalling events existed long before the Straw Hats knew about them, as they exist in our World, but now they're being exposed. I wonder if Oda undertook this research because he wanted to bring awareness to our own problems, because it certainly is making me think about the extremities of human nature.

And all this time we had dismissed One Piece as stemming from Gold Roger, the worst Pirate in history, and the arms-race to the Golden Age of Piracy. Rayleigh warned us, they found out the True History, but there was nothing they could do about it. And that is because only knowing the Void Century means nothing, it's completely empty. The only one that could truly understand the meaning of the Void Century is the one that knows, completely knows, the direct implications that the Void Century had in the world. And we are coming to realize that. Gol D. Roger found the history of the world, but was too weak, to ignorant of the state of the World as it was. He knew, though, that there would come a person that would pick up what he couldn't, and it was that the bet he made when he opened the Golden Age. Roger was but a Catalyst, not the creator. And, more and more, I just fall deeper and deeper in love with One Piece. And really see the Straw Hats as light in the darkness of this world, and the gratitude that the crew's friends show to them is slowly but surely sinking in on me as being essentially more deep than I could have ever thought.
