In an Article with the Japanese newspaper Yomiuri Shinbun , Eiichiro ODA , author of One Piece , tells us that his manga is about 80% complete. As a reminder, the author said in 2010 that it was at 50%, in 2012 at 60% and in 2016 at 65%.

Edit : I got same article with Jinbei as well

In his interview with Yomiuri, Oda mentions that his favorite characters are Bun Clay and Ivankov from "The Embel Down Arc"

Oda mentions that there are still some characters who will join the straw hat crew..

Oda talked about why he did not include Jinbei in the color pages (missed 8 times) despite joining the crew and apparently it was because he doesn't want to spoil one of the surprises about Jinbei's situation since his last appearance.

Yes , i am thinking this arc will be pathway to ending of one piece even though we are so far way from end . I feel sad someday this will end as well :(
One piece is the #1 selling manga. If you think that it ends when Luffy finds Raftel you're wrong. I used to watch Dragon Ball Z when I was a kid everyday I got home from school. 22 years later I'm still watching Dragonball Super and seeing trailers for the Broly movie.

There will be spin-offs, there will be movies, there will be one-shots. This will just be the end of the main story. One Piece will be milked till kingdom come.

I think the main story will end it. But in the world of one piece yhe adventures never end... maybe well get to see beyond the new world, a undiscovered land , a land where roger himself couldnt go because of his sickness. once luffy and friends end the one piece quest. I could see it but i could never see them ending luffys journey anytime soo lol .

I think the problem is with anime and manga charaters is that they didnt have the right ending. I thought narutos ending was great but they had to ruin it with bourto... idk well see.

I'm glad Im not the only one that thinks boruto ruined it. I think Naruto should've ended with double rinnegan madara

Ya i understand but the ending is like another 10 year ahead of us. So far oda keeps changings his statement at different interviews. I still believe he is just estimating at where one piece is right now. I still think lot of storyline still need to covered.

Curious about those numbers though. How do you only tell 5% of the story in 4 years then 15% in 2?

Honestly this is true lol. That is the case with every popular manga out there in Japan as long as the editors and publishers seems it is still worth to make money for them. So yeah.... there will be different spin offs.

Just how accurate in this percentage Oda can be? Even him could be wrong. Maybe that's just 75% or lower.

meh
Well he comes up with random figure . I guess most of the publication just bother him how much of one piece is finished ? Oda gives out random number but i would take it as grain of sal there . I believe he told he plans to finish one piece with more than 120 + volume so we are nowhere near to 80 percent .

Well not really Oda usually goes with volume . Considering dressrossa had more volumes it shares most of the content in second part of storyline . I am not sure how oda came up with 80 percent figure is he including wano arc in it . Also Strawhats final destination is raftel so i am not sure how much he will cover the wano kuni arc ?

I expect Wano will be very huge arc longer than albasta .
