I feel the tone and style of One Piece remain largely the same as it always was, despite increases in art and animation quality (a good thing, of course), but one major change I've noticed in the show, that sort of gradually crept in over time, was the slowly-increasing amount of fan-service and sexualizing/objectifying of the female characters in the series. Again, its something that crept in VERY slowly over time, but if you look at the start of the show, there is pretty much nothing in the way of fan service, and then if you look at the latest episodes, nearly every female character is scantily-clad, and the show is often calling attention to it with fan-service shots of their boobs. Fan service is nearly non-existent for the first 50 or 60 episodes; you'd barely even see any cleavage; then there's a little more......and a little more.....and by Thriller Bark, Nami is getting undressed and groped. And then the most recent episodes, since the "time skip" are pretty much shameless about it (Nami greets Ussop by basically shoving her boobs in his face).
Now, I'm not necessarily saying it all bothers me much. Its hardly anything that deters my love for the show or its excellent story and characters. After all, as I said, One Piece's story remains incredibly strong, and its tone and style still maintain the elements that made me love it in the first place in all its quirky, oddball glory. And I'll be the first to admit that, hey, Nami, Robin and Boa Hancock and pretty hot.
