[Discussion] one piece art style sucks

Calm down guys. I think attack on titans manga is amazing and dark and clever. But his drawing is aweful

I agree with this aot is one of the best but I don't the art.

One can say the same about Crayon Shin-chan, and...... I dunno-- I think the manga used to sell well before Yoshito Usui died at age 51 in September 11, 2009. The manga would still be on-going if the man was alive, and who knows? It might hit the list among best selling mangas, and some people gonna biatch on its art-style while most the Japanese apparently love the series both as manga and anime. Now One Piece is on the same way.

From a neutral standpoint(from someone who dropped OP 3 times before), One Piece honestly has the best shonen story. The mystery, development, foreshadowing, hidden clues and anticipation is what makes the story truly great. The artwork though(especially the beginning) will look REALLY weird if you read other manga with much better artwork like Death Note, Maji, HSDK etc. before you get to OP.

If it is visually unappealing, you abandoned the thing right then and there so I cant blame anyone who says that don't like the art style. Its gets better later on but it takes some getting used to for newcomers.

I've always liked these kind of art styles, it means the author is confident in his story telling and other material, I don't see one piece but compared to it's art style other mangas look like that 10/10 good for nothing except looking and ****ing ho that rely on looks like*cough*fairy tail/tale whatever*cough*

I will never know on why are people so irritated by this, to me when I first laid my eyes on the anime, it looked so unique to me.

It's all a matter of taste. Simple or detailed, unique or standard, joyful or dark-- only a few words to describe the hundreds and thousands of art styles, stories, and characters out there. It's the same with most, if not all manga. While there's a manga you might find boring compared to the rest, a lot of others might disagree with you. The same goes for art. The same goes for characters. The same goes for everything and anything. You're completely entitled to your own opinion, but arguing about what's best between this and that is borderline pointless. Also, saying you can't take the manga seriously because of its art style, is like saying you can't take a song seriously because of the singer's looks. That's what I think, at least.

The art style in One Piece is definitely my cup of tea.

Although you are correct. Kishi owes a lot to Togashi. He stated in an interview that he studied HxH iirc and that characters such as Sasuke was an inspiration of Hiei from YYH.

It's true, some characters design's look weird at times. that is OP's one and only flaw.. Greatest manga of all-time by the time it finishes, what even are you on about ?
