One Piece and Naruto...

This question more for people who prefer One Piece over Naruto or watches both Naruto and OP, What makes One Piece story so popular? I never could get into OP. I watched OP a LONG time ago. A lot has changed, and it looks pretty cool. I'm too far behind to catch up. I was no younger than 6 or 7 when OP started. I wasn't even into anime then. The reason I'm not up to date with OP. I was a bit older when I got hooked on Naruto.

Anyway.. I'm off topic. I'm not asking which is better. Why do you prefer OP over Naruto or Naruto over OP. Whether it's the plot, characters, fights, whatever.


Also, I always thought the character designs for OP was a little corny compared to Naruto. At least they change clothes more often though. Only the Sand Ninjas and Sasuke change clothes.... or his shirt.

Because everyone is evenly balanced in power, the whole OP universe is more diverse, the comedy is better, the story is more interesting, and you actually get emotionally attached to the characters.

Plot: The whole story is better in my opinion. Luffy is making a lot of new friends on the way, who all have their own dreams to fulfill. Whereas in Naruto, the series is only focused on about 4 characters. And all the places they visit just makes the whole Manga just so much more diverse and more interesting.

Characters: None of them are OP compared to others (mostly) because everyone gains new powers or abilities at the same pace, and you actually get more emotionally attached to everyone, not just the main character/villain. And if Oda wants you hate a character (like a villain) he can get you to hate him. If he wants you to love someone, he can get you to love someone.

Fights: I like the fights more because the characters aren't always doing the same thing (MS spam, Rasengan spam, etc.) and for some reason they're just more interesting to watch/read.

And there's almost no plot holes, if any at all.

To be honest, I can't explain. You'll have to read/watch it to find out what I'm trying to say. But IMO its a decent amount better than Naruto and Bleach.

I watch both but i prefer one piece.

It has a better plot.
better character development.
a balanced world.
actually funny (naruto isn't).
emotionally attached to most of the characters, whereas in naruto i don't care for any including naruto.
Oda does not troll us unlike kishi.
no plot holes and nothing left unexplained.
the good guys lose without team work.
its interesting.
more mature.

so many more reasons but this is just off the top of my head.

This is all also true, like the good guys part. One of the themes is also about friendship and hard work together, not just BM soloing everyone.

I started watching naruto before one piece, and i must say that it was very hard to me to get into one piece... i just watched like 3 episodes 1st time and the couldnt take it xD but now i like both animes/mangas equally
it's just that onepiece needs more time to get into than naruto

The One Piece manga dragged me in quicker than Naruto's...but its all down to personal preference. xd

See when I'm on these anime forums, I see such praise coming from OP, which catch my interest. Especially, when compared to Naruto.

I'm not hating on Naruto in anyway. Sorry If I came off that way. I still like Naruto due to the interesting plot and the many mysterious characters, especially due to the War.

But if you get what I'm saying, the whole Naruto world has always been the same. As in the backgrounds are almost all the same, and there's no diversity (forest and village is pretty much the only background), whereas OP has A LOT of variation on each island and place they visit.

the true story behind the Rebellion
the lost century, the poneglyhps

not that narutos story is not complex but one piece is a little bit better

Characters:
its not how its in naruto
the characters are not overpowered
and all characters in one piece are not hated by the community and fans
its not like "i like luffy so i hate zoro"
they like luffy, zoro and all the other characters

fights:
i like the fights in naruto a little bit more
they have a little bit more "quality"
but in one piece the fights are more in "quantity"
and against a stronger character there is actual teamwork in one piece
the straw hats are fighting in a team when they meet a stronger enemy
this is one of the things i like one piece more
and i prefer the anime of one piece over the anime of naruto
less fillers
more "actual-story" filled episodes and not that far away from the manga
and the few fillers are really good

the whole series is alot funnier when we compare it to naruto

the real thing starts now

It's all a matter of personal preference.
I prefer naruto over one piece sometimes.

basically what everybody else sayed imo better plot,characters,more villains(which is important more villians= more fights ),not focused on 2 characters,funny,in fights i used to say naruto was better but now it is op because everybody has a different style and powers while after the rinnegan introduction it´s almost only about overpowering and everybody can only get strong with kg,also the good guys in op often lose and don´t get saved by plot while in naruto they always win,another point is less talk no justu they don´t try to change there opponents mind but kick ass and in op there is not such a power gap even gold roger(strongest character) would lose against two or three really strong characters together while in naruto so6p can probably solo the entire narutoverse

Lets see, reasons why I prefer OP over Naruto.

Unique theme - As far as I'm aware, there aren't any other Mangas out there with the central focus being that of Piracy.

Comic Relief - Nothing much to say here except that OP can be funny as **** at the most unexpected of times. Comedy in Naruto is just baffling. Leaving me to utter "Wtf" whenever.

Plot - It's well developed and it's development will continue so.

Characters - Oda include a heap load of characters in his incomplete masterpiece and has also managed to give the majority a decent ( Plot hole free ) background history. They may even let you a certain character in a new light.

To lazy to continue.
All in all, OP is fawksome.

OP > Naruto

In my opinion, the thing that sets One Piece over Naruto would be the humor. Its funny.

Better Characters.

Cooler story.

Way funnier.

Better character development. It happens in phases slowly rather than just all of the sudden a noob becomes super powered because his feelings get hurt.

OP doesn't have Sakura in it.

Cooler battles.

Pirates > Ninjas in coolness.

More diversity and plot development, Naruto has just been the same "boohoohoo Sasuke left us lets find him" for years now, and that has gotten really old and repetitive.

Better back story.

Nicer boobs on the female characters.

Monkey D. Luffy And Roronoa Zoro (need I say more).

More convincing and better thought out plot.

More entertaining.

Did I mention it doesn't have Sakura?
