For all of you that are annoyed that Gai got an asspull and survived, you have to remember that this manga is essentially all about 'the power of friendship'. It's gonna be corny, and characters are going to be saved miraculously from situations where otherwise there'd be no chance. I'm a little torn; while I had mentally prepared myself that Gai was going to die, even though I wasn't happy about it, I'm a tad disappointed that Gai didnt get a heroic sacrifice. You just need to remember though, with the state at which the manga's at now with all the new super powers of the protagonists, expect crazy asspulls like this.
