its cuz he casted a genjustu its why there armor change i think altho i could be we just miss a bit off fighting. also b4 we see his EMS so im prity sure he used genjustu.

I believe that madara was on top of that mountain and fooled hashirama at first. Madara said he could see through hashirama's wood clone so it makes sense. I don't know what jutsu madara used to fake his own body though.

Good theory. Maybe Madara used Izanagi... we do see him as an old man with only one eye
