At what point do some people on here get the condescending mentality? Seriously. I see some people asking things that are or at least seem like genuine concerns or topics, and some of the things people respond with are just... Wow..

I'm not even talking about troll responses, because we already get they're lonely. What I mean is when people respond with really hard things such as "Another ignorant ass who clearly doesn't know how to read... log off and crawl back into the corner you came out of... another useless thread.."

Really?? Is having an internet title and some "reputation" really that special? How bad does one have to have it in the real world that you would shamelessly take a dump on someone else who you don't know at all? You aren't getting paid to do it, and better and more productive things could have been said or done.

Blah, say what you will. Still, regardless of your opinion, it does not sustain an excuse to be an outright buttmuncher.

I think people who respond like that don't have much of a social life and therefore don't understand how to interact properly with others. They're victims of circumstance and deserve our pity. Their only friends are either manga characters or those creepy life-size anime pillows.

I alway post peaceful and kind threads myself yet people always try to set it off with Doom. Some people have haters for no reason. I have a certain group of haters that stay hating on my threads. I'm peaceful and kind to everybody I don't get it either.

As someone whose posts often come off even to me as condescending, I think it has a lot to do with interpretation of tone. One of the downsides to text-based communication is the tone someone interprets it in could be completely different than the person who typed it meant to be.

For example when I debate, I like to type in a matter of fact kind of manner. It's hard to explain, but I'm not really going for either a negative "You suck" tone, nor a positive "We're really nice friends" tone either, the intention I have behind it is more neutral, formal so to speak. But when you use that kind of tone combined with the fact that you're arguing against what the person is saying, it's very easy to give off an unintentional tone of condescension.

It shouldn't be done, but a lot of threads (including this one) have been made multiple times before and most likely answered before, and then members (older ones) respond in those condescending tones due to said person not searching old threads, but I mean who has time for that?
