i would give him an 8 because he is a boss! i mean he easily defeated sakura and sai, and nearly took down naruto, he also nearly vanquished the three edo kages. he may have failed, but he got close.

8 or 9. He's been introduced as a character with insane power and a mind only bent on killing, cursed with the hatred of others and born with a demon inside of him that he never wanted. Naruto was able to relate to him very well, and showed Gaara the light after an intense battle. It boosted the reader's view on Naruto's charisma. When he came back in the last Part 1 arc, I think a lot of fans grew wild with excitement. Even in Part 2 he's had a steady role; both Gaara's speech and his revival w/ everybody by his side were very strong moments.
