Maybe he just injured half of his face ( the half we havent seen ), and doesnt have the "fake" face while wearing the mask ... Hope you understand what I mean
I think you made a good point. Obito would be about Kakashi's height, and told to stay back from the nine tails or not, Kakashi was an Anbu captain and was tall by that point.
I don't think Obito is motivated to do these things. I think as Obito laid there he was absorbed into the earth by Zetsu and is being used as a vessel for whatever purpose. His sharingan must be useful to the cause, his body was destroyed. Now he's no one, Obito exists as a residual subbconscious like those Orochimaru takes over.
It will be Kakashi's year because in the end he'll be able to free his friend from being used this way.
NOTE: This thread pretains to Obito as his own character and not simply as an ID for Tobi.
People say that young Obito was not inclined to hate the leaf village. He was only a kid after all, a somewhat late bloomer just trying to make friends with his fellow shinobi, not really out to harm anyone. A "good boy"... If anyone can see where this is going, have a little patience and read further. Tobi was first featured as a somewhat wacky yet mysterious sidekick to Deidara, completely loyal to his sempai despite appearing clutzy, unfocused, and overall goofy. (Disguising the fact that he is actually immensly powerful and knowledgable.)
What if this is a role that Tobi has played before? Imagine, while a member of Team Minato, Obito was seen as the "Naruto" of the squad. Again, clutzy, uncoordinated and headstrong. But it strikes me as odd that an Uchiha of all people would have such an uncharactaristic attitude of personality. Every other member of the clan is either vengeful and vindictive, or peaceful and protective. Was Obito simply too ADHD to fit in with his comrades? (Like Naruto.) Or did he have some reason to conceal his true nature?
Mt point of course being that Obito (being alive during a crucial point in the Leaf's history) may have had something influencing him to play this simple, "good boy" role.
I have been thinking a lot about the clear problems with saying that Tobi is Obito. The first and most mentioned is Tobi appears to be much older than Obito would have been were he alive at that point. I have a problem with that argument. The man attacking Konoha wears a head-to-toe hooded cloak and a mask, so what is this based on? Two things.
His height.
His Voice.
And so I argue that in this panel, during the chapters of the Konoha invaision, we briefly see a younger Kakashi and Might Guy (bottom left panel) who are the same age as Obito.

Argue if you must, but I see no reason to think that they are any shorter or smaller than Minato at this time, they have grown up and Kakashi is in his ANBU uniform. He and anyone in his age group should be classed as the height of an adult male.
There isnt as much I can say about the tone of the masked man's voice, because Kishimoto to my knowledge does not personally choose th anime voice actors after writing the manga. Anyway, it is clearly very deep, However if you will humor me for a moment longer; Imagine Itachi Uchiha (an 18 year old young man in part 1) wearing this mask. Imagine him speaking, without seeing his face, does he SOUND like a teenager to you? All I'm saying by this is you cannot judge someone's age based on how they sound and how tall they are, and that is ALL we can deduce about the masked man.
Take a moment to combine these suggestions with all previous facts learned about Tobi:
His strangely contstructed body (Zetsu-like arm)
His physical appearance (hairstyle and sharingan)
His Sharingan powers and how similar they are to Kakashi's
His recent conversation with Kakashi about faces and remembering.
I suppose I'm really not drawing any conclusions here, I'm not just throwing the book down and agreeing that Tobi is Obito, I still have no way of knowing what is going to come out of that mask.
So leave me with your thoughts on this, what have I missed or not considered? Have any of YOU considered the ideas I'VE displayed? If you are for some reason offended by how "wrong" I am then you'll have to forgive me and please dismiss it. Or Idk talk some shit if it helps you feel better lol but let me know if anyone is interested by this simple thought.
First and foremost, a good read and a good post overall. That being said, in my mind what you wrote could and never did happen (personal opinion obviously )
But honestly first things first. You contradict yourself big time in your ending.

Before getting into the contradiction, Tobi made the comment about faces and remembering to Gai!!!! I don't know why a lot of posts/poster's on this board don't see it or maybe they don't want to, I don't know but this was Tobi making fun of Gai's horrible character trait in which he never, ever remembers opponent's names, especially Kisame.
As for the contradiction, so we shouldn't judge the voice-actors or the appearance of Tobi because obviously the voice-actors can sound older and be taller and we shouldn't take that last part especially into account, but when it comes to all of Tobi's appearances fitting Obito (haircut, height, where his Zetsu replaceable limbs are, etc...) that is "okay" or we should "amuse" you for a minute to just see your example, which I did, and like I said it is a great read and a good post but once again, biased completely.
If you are going to say you can't judge height, weight, haircut, and/or any physical attribute than that goes for all, should it not?
The whole reason, as I aforementioned above, I think your theory/post could not be true is because I think you are forgetting one major factor: MINATO. Whether Obito was seen as the "Clutzy, NARUTO" of the squad or not, there is no way Minato doesn't notice that this crazy lunatic he is fighting to the death with is his past student who "supposedly" died. I do give Kakashi a lot of credit, but he is no Minato, not by a long shot.
I just want to make sure I am clear to cause I could be wrong and if I am forgive me, it has been a long, hot, grueling day at work and my power was just out for hours on end. Anyway, what you are getting it is Obito (who you clearly believe is Tobi and that is fine) played the "clutzy, NARUTO" role and after being killed and since all the physical characteristics match we can maybe believe he is Tobi? The thing is...Obito RISKED his life to go back for Rin, he knew the danger, and for all intensive purposes, he had no idea Kakashi was coming back, he lucked out on that one.
So on one end we have Obito who contrary to what you wrote above was not only NOT INCLINED to hate the LEAF VILLAGE but was also growing up during a time where it was still considered (and even in the case of Sasuke it still was with him) a huge gift. Also, Obito was not like Naruto because Naruto was hated for the obvious reason that the monster in his body killed all of his peer's parents and/or people they loved, others, etc...Even Sakura did not like Naruto to begin with and for a long time. Obito was good friends with Rin and Rin obviously cared about him. Obito even claims (I am too tired to find the chapter) as he is dying "I can't believe I am dying right when Kakashi and I are starting to become great friends and I didn't get to say goodbye to anyone in Konoha"

Anyway, like I have stated, I do like your post and it is put very passively (a good thing) compared to the other threads with the same idea, but remember it is very easy to come out and now have everyone making threads that "NO DOUBT: TOBI IS OBITO" and "*SPOILERS* TOBI'S IDENTITY FINALLY REALLY, HONESTLY AND FINALLY, AND ALSO HONESTLY AND FINALLY REVEALED!!!" but in a week or maybe even two Kishi is going to pull a Plot no Jutsu and this whole wave of threads will be forgotten worse than Y2K.
Tobi has to be Obito!!!Chapter 594 page 8 is proof!
I dont know if anyone else noticed this...but on page 8,
Tobi says:
"Kakashi...you always open your mouth so easily"---in my opinion only someone who knows kakashi well or grew up with him would say something like this.
Also, after guy asks tobi who are you? Tobi replies (with KAKASHI's pic next to Tobi's answer)
"you don't remember faces, so what point is there in tell you"---further hinting that Tobi is Obito...
I might be wrong, but wanna hear some feed backs...
Re: Tobi has to be Obito!!!Chapter 594 page 8 is proof!
That bit about Tobi knowing Kakashi is plot bait. I'm sure Kishi is aware people have been suspecting Obito for years. He's probably laughing his ass off knowing people are even more convinced that it is him now. Just like in a murder mystery, I'm willing to bet Tobi is not going to be the most obvious suspect.
Poor guy.
First, everyone accuses him of being the Fourth, which no doubt reminded him of his failure to destroy the Leaf, and then everyone thinks he's a little kid who got crushed by rocks.
xd
Re: Tobi has to be Obito!!!Chapter 594 page 8 is proof!
no, its proof that tobi is kakashi from future...stn(kamui for his whole own body-no wonder that kamui doesnt affect him), good knowledge "praising himself", knowledge about gai
