[Discussion] Old, yet still puzzling. [Tobi OP, Kishi Please Nerf]

So, quite possibly one of my favorite scenes in Naruto (for whatever reason, it's funny to watch), is when Sasuke uses Amaterasu on Tobi.



My only question is how did Tobi extinguish the flames?

For you Izanagi claimers, he would have had to sacrifice one of his eyes, meaning that he wouldn't have had access to it during the fight between him and Konan. Also reading this page,

it appears that Tobi possesses "something" that Itachi was not aware of, but what would that something be?

As for Kamui, the Amaterasu DID CONNECT practically engulfed him, meaning that he would have had to either swallow up the flames and transport them to his Kamui dimension, or he would never have use of that part of his body again, as Amaterasu never extinguishes even if the remains are reduced to ashes.

So I just want to know what you all think about this. How did Tobi do it?

He had a lot of spare eyes. And Amaterasu stops after the target is destroyed. And it was kamui IMO.

My thoughts as well, however Amaterasu doesn't ever extinguish, meaning he'd still be on fire. Also, via troll science (and chakra natures), Fire burns Wood, meaning he'd be burned still. Senju DNA can't be that OP.

It was Izanagi...he has a whole lab full of Sharingan....it can't be Kamui cause he would have signs of getting burned, but with Izanagi he can completely erase that moment.

Never thought of this, but yeah this makes sense.

I always thought it was because it only made contact with the Zetsu portion of his body, he chopped off limbs many times before.

The only reason why it seemed like it wouldn't be Izanagi, IMO, was because he said that he kept some things secret from Itachi meaning that he has some hidden ability that can extinguish the flames, or at least keep him alive; ie. something that Itachi isn't aware of or couldn't have predicted. When Itachi was revived with Edo Tensei, he displayed knowledge of Izanagi during the fight between Sasuke and himself versus Kabuto. To me, this seems like it has a little more to it than just Izanagi, but I could just be nit-picking a little too much (Not like everyone else on NBase doesn't do it). Call me stubborn, but I'm not willing to accept Izanagi, I simply feel that there is more to it than that.

He probably used Kamui to put the amaterasu in another dimension. As for no signs of burns? I have no idea. Honestly, I don't think amaterasu is as powerful as it's made up to be. Every time we've seen it, it hasn't caused as much destruction as we think it's supposed to. It appears to burn incredibly slowly for "the ultimate fire" or whatever. Raikage had to cut off his arm, but the arm looked intact when he hacked it off; just on fire.
