Danzo stated that if matters really got serious, Hiruzen himself will solo the Uchiha Clan. This is despite his old age.

But I suppose that Danzo thought it would be more slick if Itachi killed them all in their sleep, as a cowardly sneak attack.

Because if the Uchiha clan takes on Hiruzen in battle, the pressure would cause substantial damage to the surrounding earth.

Just like how the mere presence of Hiruzen was able to easily make solid matter crumble

Look at that Katon, it's even bigger than Madara's.

Keep in mind, Shinsusenjuu are even stronger than full Kurama, and Hiruzen stalemated it at old age.


Moreover, Danzo wanted to have Sharingan eyes for his arm. If Hiruzen fought the Uchiha, the entire clan would have been completely obliterated, leaving nothing behind for Danzo to collect.

I cannot imagine him in his prime.

Of course he can take the entire clan. Edo Hiruzen was already nation level. So one mesly clan shouldn't be a problem.
