Viz already shat on the scan you posted. You can't beat sasuke by beating him to a pulp. You have to beat his heart in order to beat him completely while matching him with equal strength.

Also by your logic sasuke knew he needed Itachi's eyes for a base Naruto, since he didn't know Naruto had sage mode, and naruto never used sage mode in front of sasuke until the juubito fight, proven when naruto hit juubito with sage mode rasengan and sasuke was dumbfounded
