Ok wtf is happening in this anime???

I was watching a romance anime named Amagami SS

I will be spoiling upto episode 7 because I dont understand what's going so if anyone watched it might know??

From episode 1 to 4 the protagonist waa in a rship with tht popular girl even after 10 years (ep4)And then on ep4 I thought it will continue from tht part bit seems like it was set before he met tht popular girl
then I realised thts not it either cause in episode 7 he is in a rship with his childhood friend
WTF HAPPEND WASNT HE SUPPOSED TO BE WITH THE OTHER GIRL I'M SO CONFUSED NOW

Each arc = MC character will fall for another chick. It's like ''what if MC falls in love with (insert girl #1) instead of (insert girl 3)''.

IIRC, each girl gets like 4 episodes each or 3.. in the sequel, they will have another arc for them to see how they're doing as a couple and stuff like that.

This anime doesn't go in a chronological order like all the animes out there. So don't treat it like that so just enjoy each arc with a different heroine because they aren't the same. They're quite different.

So it's kinda like after 4 eps as if the time is turned back to the point in episode 1 but someone triggered a change causing something like a flash point and thus everything that is happend is changing and the protagonist ends up with another girl

There's no trigger or anything like that. After we get an arc of 'x' girl, we switch to 'y' girl because we're done with 'x' arc. But yeah, we always go back to how episode 1 is but with a different heroine.

You'll get 2 episodes for each girl in the sequel so you can see how your fav couple is doing ^^

Each ark is set to focus on a different girl - none if it is "canon", yet none of it isn't. It's left up to the viewer's personal preference to make out which heroine he/she likes best with the protagonist, which in turn is what makes it his/her own ending.

Shows like these are rare, by the way. They're kinda the ultimate form of pleasing a fanatical shipping base, because every pairing gets development, confirmation and conclusion, all the while there is no true couple, yet all of them are such. That stuff is usually reserved for visual novels.
