I guess that makes Shikamaru’s thoughts just as self absorbed then. Hinata was silent throughout the whole time Shika was dying, the only ones who spoke up were Sakura and her team mates, Ino and Choji. After he was back to health, he says he wants to stay by Narutos side, as his advisor. and Hinata, hearing this, says she wishes to do the same. There is nothing wrong with this. You people just love jumping on her ass about everything
Shikamaru saying he wants to by Naruto’s side = Selfless
Hinata saying she wants to be by Naruto’s side as well, after hearing this from Shikamaru = Selfish

It's like you can't even understand how writing works. Of course Hinata's not gonna be shown doing such thigs over Shikamaru's death because she is irrelwvant to his character. Did Shikamaru show any actual conxern when he found out Hinata had been attacked by pain? No. Not at all. Did Gai, Tenten,
Hiashi, or any of theK11 show any sadness over Neji? No. Ph! Here's the best one.... did Shikamaru show any sadess over his dad dying? Nope

I find it amusing that people use Hinata’s comment about finding Naruto’s hand warm as a excuse to bash her for not caring about Neji’s death.
That list of things to hate about Hinata must be getting pretty damn short if you have to resort to this.
Firstly, to start off with the comment itself; Whats wrong with someone who just had a relative die finding comfort in someone else? She put on a brave front in to cheer up Naruto, but that doesn’t mean she didn’t care, this is all too apparent by her expression in “Regrets”.
The warm feeling she got from Naruto gave her assurance
A woman finding a guys hand to be big and strong is often portrayed as given women a feeling of security. At least in manga. In a time of depression having someone to trust/ believe in helps a lot
There was no fangirling from Hinata in this moment. The moment was touching and even had romantic feelings intertwined, but at no point did she act lovey dovey with Naruto.

Reassurance
That was all that happened in that scene
Now, Moving onto the claim that this comment somehow shows she doesn’t care fore Neji.
I think people need to get it through their heads that the comment was made AFTER her and Naruto and accepted and decided to honor neji’s death.
Otherwise, you might as well bash Naruto for smiling at Hinata after Neji died in that Chapter 633 flashback, Might as well bash Gai for goofing off after neji’s death and being cheerful, Might as well bash tenten for cursing Neji when he died and you’d might as well bash lee for dreaming of beating the shit out of Neji in order to impress a girl who gives no ****’s about him romantically despite him dying a few hours ago.
Yes, Despite the fact that in “Regrets” we see her with a saddened expression remembering neji’s death, despite the fact that she cried for him, her body even shaking, and completely understood his will for dying as he did*; which Naruto and lee did not at first, deslite the fact that she isthe only oneat his funeral who is crying, despite he fact that over a decadelater she is still visiting his grave...... She doesn’t care for him. Lets all just ignore how Naruto barely shed a single tear, how Gai, Hiashi and Tenten had hardly any sort of real reaction…. And lets also ignore how she conveyed his will to Naruto and the entire alliance.

She did tear up a little bit, but it seemed like Naruto and even Lee showed more compassion for him than she did.
I recall when Naruto was being stripped of Kurama from Madara and died and she ran as fast as she could when she heard the news, but Neji received less appeal. It makes sense if you want to bring in the argument that Neji treated her badly in the beggining, but they are still cousins nonetheless and he did train her in the timeskip.
I don't know, It just seems like Hinata can only "overreact" to something when it involves Naruto. This is why many people(including me) dislike her stance as a character.

Because Kishi ruins females when he tries to focus on them because he sucks at writing them.Heres an example.Sakura was more focused on by Kishi than Hinata who was more focused on as compared to TenTen and the lesser he seems to focus on them the better their character seems.If Kishi tries to focus on Hinata than she will go the same way as Sakura

Tearing up a little bit is what Naruto did, he barely shed a single tear. Hinata on the other hand had tears rolling down her cheeks and her body was even shaking. We even see in 699/700 that she cried for him again and that over a decade later, despite having a family to look after, still visits his grave.
Still.... a lot of people seem to think that Hinata is obligated to care for Neji simply because of their blood relation. I mean, I understand the two care for each other, but people make it out to be like Hinata isn’t ALLOWED to put Friends over her Blood Relatives, and this makes 0 sense. Blood relations is not something that determines the deepness of a bond you have with others.
But honestly, these two moments aren’t really a good comparison. Because in Naruto’s case, we have Naruto in the process of dying, and Hinata is unaware of his condition, while in Neji’s case, Neji has already said there is nothing that can be done to save him, and she is aware of this.
Both of these moments were devastating for Hinata, and even if she did care more for Naruto than Neji (even though I don’t see how you’d even be able to measure the “careness level”), this doesn’t in no way devalue the Care she showed when Neji died.
But hey; in the end, no one *****es about Shikamaru crying over Asuma but not Shikaku and no one *****es about Naruto crying his eyes out when Gaara and Jiriaya died but barely shedding a tear when Neji died. Oh my! What is this I see? I double standard, perhaps?
