Gohan will be a great father : ) He's always had the most potential out of any non fused, non movie character.

But his strength is often neglected to showcase Goku and Vegeta.

Anyway, I don't see the problem with Gohan actually wanting to become something more than just a fist fighter. There are more ways to help the world then just punching bad guys, lol. And I can respect that

goku's a deadbeat who threw gohan at cell without telling him a damn thing, and even refused to come back from death to spend time with his son.

No he is. Goku battled Cell so he could show Gohan how Cell fights so he didn't just throw him in. At the end of the day Goku is still a Saiyan and they get the utmost joy out of fighting. Also knowing that he was no match for Cell he wanted to train with King Kai instead of coming back to earth.

he threw him in lol. he didnt tell gohan anything about what he was doing, which left gohan unprepared and unwilling. cell could fairly easily have killed him then massacred everyone else but gohan told cell about his hidden power which resulted in everything else.

lol then wouldnt it be even more threatened because hes no longer there? i mean unless he sent a telegram to every being in the universe that he is in fact no longer on earth, they are gonna come there regardless.
and if you think about it, no threat ever really cared if goku was there or not. vegeta didnt give a fuk. raditz wouldnt really give a fuk. red ribbon army only targeted him because he challenged THEM first. freeza wouldnt have come to earth if goku didnt challenge him first. freeza was content to rule his empire unmolested.

Mystic Gohan is very powerful and in my honest opinion he is a better character then goku.

Well you have no logic whatsoever because you can't provide any proof. Goku already knew in the Hyperbolic Time Chamber that Gohan would be the one to beat Cell because he felt the power of Gohan turning into a SSJ2 for a very brief moment. So the main reason that Goku fought Cell was to show Gohan how Cell fights. Stick to sonic.
