Toei Animation, the Japanese animation studio behind the Dragon Ball series of anime, has launched the official Dragon Ball Z 2013 movie website. The website was launched 12:00 noon in Japan and was met with what seems to be a lot of traffic. When we visited the website, it took a good 60 seconds for it to load, but things may have cooled down at this time. The url for the website is dragonball2013 . com. The website doesn’t have any new information, but does feature the pictures below.

The Dragon Ball Z 2013 movie is slated to launch in Japan on March 30, 2013. No release date for North America or Europe has been announced at this time. To learn more about Dragon Ball Z 2013, which we believed is not the final title, please read the Saiyan Island post titled New Dragon Ball Z Movie Confirmed for March 2013

My theory is that Since dragonball kai went off toriyama's original idea to end the show after cell i think this movie takes place in a universe where buu was not introduced.
krillin is still in his gai outfit in this pic when the seven years passed he gave up fighting and wore casual clothes

SUMMARY
The film takes place around the time of the Majin Buu Saga of Dragon Ball Z, and is said to involve Trunks and Goten.

This movie will be the first Dragon Ball movie in 17 years to have a thatrical release, the last being the tenth anniversary movie Dragon Ball: The Path to Power in 1996, which followed the first three Dragon Ball films and the thirteen Dragon Ball Z films. It was first anounced in July 2012, in the 33rd issue of Weekly Shōnen Jump. The film will be directed by Masahiro Hosoda and written by Yūsuke Watanabe, with Tadayoshi Yamamuro acting as the lead animation director. In a comment printed alongside the announcement, the Dragon Ball series creator Akira Toriyama notes that the adaptation will mark the first time he has been so deeply involved in the production of an anime, in this case as early as the screenwriting stages. Toriyama also says that the film will retain the atmosphere of the original while adding small amounts of "modern flavor."
The official website for the magazine had already opened a "D" teaser page with a countdown to a "surprise" on Saturday, July 14.

I am a little bit curious as to who is the main enemy, if it is a new one. I am a bit curious as to why vegeta is still wearing his rit armor. However, if it's going to follow in the footsteps of the other movie predecessors, storyline consistency usually isn't a factor xd
However whatever it is, it will be much better than that god-awful live action movie. U_U

toriyama's original idea to end the show after cell
since when was that his original idea?

except dbz never had king piccolo so it couldnt have been based off that. and didnt spiderman and alot of major franchises drastically alter the source material?
