You forget that Minato had already used the Reaper Death Seal and used up chakra fighting Obito and teleporting Kurama and using the Tetragram seal.

False. If Edo Minato can handle the kyubi, then alive Minato definitely can. It was already established in the manga that Edo Bodies are weaker than the living body. Tobirama made it clear and so did Madara, who was desperate to get a living body so that he can become juubi jin.
