The saying goes, "A picture can paint a thousand words," and in the same sense, a poem can paint a picture. We can also apply the same logic for nearly every single form of art, and that is, in my opinion, the greatest thing about art in general: how it seamlessly connects our senses with our emotions and imagination.
Even if the OP hadn't added the gif with the poem, we would have still been able to create such imagery in our heads just by reading the poem. The point isn't to "get" anything. I guess the best term would be appreciating it and facilitating it with your imagination or emotions.
Don't get me wrong, though. If you're trying to find an objective truth to the poem, then that's fine, but its quite clear in that regard.
