It's pretty clear now that the Sharingan and Rin'engan's respective abilities were originally one in the same.

My idea was always that Indra's power could only surface if the Sharingan as a Doujutsu was united [since all the varying abilities we've seen from the Sharingan originated from his eyes]; which may all be true if that is the power Hagoromo gave to Sasuke. Indra may not have been able to enforce each particulary of the Doujtusu to it's true extent maybe because his abilities were those that required the diversity of jutsu to function cooperately. It means that he would not have been able to selectively use things such as Itachi's Tsukuyomi, Kotoamatsukami, Kamui, ect. But whatever abilities he could perform would require the driving-force of all these abilities together----in essence, a balance where the former abilities are supported by and are entirely dependent on the latter, just as the latter abilities are supported by and are entirely dependent on the former abilities. It also supports the idea that his jutsu could in essence reflect these particularies.

It's the concept that has been portrayed thus far where the Sharingan is concerned. For instance, Sasuke's Eternal Mangekyo Sharingan abilities are entirely dependent on both Itachi's eye power and his own eye power, however, he isn't capable of fully producing Itachi's jutsu but may produce elements that may appear similar [ ]. The difference between Sasuke and Indra is that Indra did not have the Rin'engan or it's abilities overlapping his Doujutsu as Sasuke currently does; and this 'overlapping' is what also differs Sasuke's eye from the Regular Rin'engan. Now this gives rise to two possibilities:

-> Sasuke may be able to mix-match the Sharingan's and Rin'engan's abilities: Susano'o using Shinra Tensei is an example.

-> Sasuke gains a new technique/techniques founded upon the Sharingan's abilities and Rin'negan abilities working together: Within Tsukuyomi; time, gravity, and space, are all controlled by the user. If Sasuke was able to use the Rin'egnan to project this ability into the real world for an instant it could enable him to breifly close the space between any two objects or perhaps delay time in order to evade a Jutsu. A second example is perhaps applying Deva paths flight ability to Susano'o.

...

The latter seem's more plausible. So what are your thoughts, NB?

I always thought that he can be able to do the former. Using one eye (Rinnegan) in conjunction with the Sharingan to simultaneously perform two unrelated dojutsus together. However, I believe he would do the latter considering the new teleportation technique he is performing. There was some hints on his .

I doubt the eye alternation would be necessary at this point but not a distant idea. Also, though personally I am more inclined believe it is solely a Sharingan jutsu I think Tengai Shinsei would be a better foreshadowing example of the Sharingan and Rin'negan working cooperately.

Well, I can't disagree with that. I think it'll be interesting to see the combination of these unrelated powers together. Especially given the Hindu and Shintoist origin of the Rinnegan's and Sharingan's abilities, respectively. So I'm going to go with both the combination and a new technique for that matter.
