Ok sorry if someone has done this before but I was rereading old chapters and this idea occurred to me.

What if Madara was responsible for Rin's death?

In this panel Madara is convinced that Obito would return to him, how can he be so sure of this unless he knows Rin will die causing Obito to want to enact the Infinite Tsukuyomi to create a perfect world with Rin still alive.

What if Madara had someone in the mist under a genjutsu forcing them to turn Rin into a Jinchuriki. He knew Obito cared about Rin from what Obito was saying in his sleep, so to manipulate him into following his orders he set Rins death in motion.

Now if Obito is actually defeated by Naruto and the others, Madara may say he knew this was inevitable even after he set Rin's death in motion but Naruto will do some talk no jutsu and Obito will destroy madara with the juubis power to erase jutsu erasing Madara's edo tensei body with then with the last of his strength releasing all the bijuu back into the beast forms.

What do you guys think?

You can bet on it Madara needed Obito awaken his Mangekyo Sharingan and bring him to his side and he was in control of the mist at that time he set it up

We simply do not know. However it is certainly possible it was all a set-up. Maybe not that Kakashi would kill Rin but.. I mean either way same results.

he could of implanted the order to capture and turn her into the jinchuriki. Even if she didn't kill herself she would be killed when the bijuu took over and she went on a rampage no matter what it would result in her death.

I bet 99.99% that madara is the culprit behind rin - being kidnapped and turned into a jin by mist. Thats is why rin chose to die by her lovers hand kakashi. Remember madara said to obito that - you will off-course return and then you will really thank me. With any reason madara would never say such things. He had some backup plans. I want to see obito's reaction when he finds out the truth.

nope i think rather than naruto's tnj is the influence of kakashi's smooth mouth and minato's saying "bito you wanted to be the hokage then why resort to these methods"

It's really obvious that Madara was behind Rins death. Back when this happend kiri was called something with blood,"Village of the Bloody Mist", it was during the time that Yagura was mizukage, and its pretty given that Madara was controlling the mizukage... When he met Obito and saw the opportunity to get him to continue with his plan, he decided to sacrifice the fourth mizukage to put the sanbi inside Rin and even if kakashi wouldn't have killed her she would have died when sanbi was getting enraged in the leaf village. And therefor Obito wouldn't stand any chance of saving her. So yes, Madara is responsible for Rins death.
