A lot of people here on the Base really seem to find Obito's reasons for the war pathetic. It seems people still think it's because of Rin and being "friendzoned." But I find the truth a great reason, but I feel like Kishi hasn't made it that evident.
Obito's reasons are essentially the EXACT same as Nagato, and nobody seemed to question his idealism. Both lost someone close to them for pointless war. Both saw the horrors of the of the shinobi system. Obito had a clearer epiphany, having grown up thinking the ninja system was great only to find how flawed it was (plus the whole Uchiha pycho brain syndrome).
All I really wanted was a couple of panels of Obito growing up in the Rain village (he obviously stayed there to keep tabs on the Akasutki) and observing the same horrors that Nagato did. This simple addition would have made his reasons SOOO much more understandable to the readers who still think Obito's reasons are childish. He has seen war and destruction and wishes to change that reality. It's Nagato's same reasoning, but better imo.
And to those who still proclaim, "its all becuase he got friendzoned by Rin omg." Well, ignoring the incorrectness of the statement and ignoring the Psycho Uchiha love/hate syndrome, analyze exactly what happened to him.
He was trapped in that cave for a LONG time. His only thoughts were to get back to the two people he had sacrificed himself for. Simply the amount of time living in a single place for so long with a creepy old man and weird androids would be enough to drive anyone insane. Then to finally escape and find your dying wish to become unfulfilled? THEN add in the Uchi brain syndrome? Its no wonder why he turned out the way he did.
I realize there are probably too many posts addressing the same issue, and I apologize for that, but I feel like this point still hasn't been made clear so I just wanted to share my reasoning.
