I was reading through the last chapter then I noticed this page; specifically when Zetsu was talking about the Moon's Eye Plan.

You see how Zetsu was talking about how it's like a dream and even the dead can be revived?

Well I bet that Obito's motivation for the plan is because Rin died and by using Infinite Tsukuyomi he can see her once again in this "Dream World"

I originally thought that he just started it because of Rin and that he doesn't care about her now, but now I think he wants to finish it for her also...and I said in the OP I thought of this when I read the new chapter.

no i think he wanted to screw madara over and use rinne tensei to bring rin back

It is either Obito's main motive or Rin's death ignited him to go along with Madara's plan and finish it for Rin.
