Have you ever felt so bad that you feel like the worst piece of crap in the whole world and even though you feel horrible you make an effort and put up a tough front to make it seem like you're fine? Well that's what obito's mask represent, he put on the mask in order to hide his true feelings and appear tough and strong. This is something some people in here dont seem to understand and even claim obito and tobi are 2 different characters.

When obito had the mask on, he didnt let his feelings out therefore he seemed heartless and that's why he started to behave differently the moment the mask came off because he was confronted with his true feelings, the whole mask thing is about facing and accepting things.

To summarize all, obito's mask was a barrier that obito put to isolate himself from other people so he wouldnt be confronted by his feelings, at the same time that same mask made him the loneliest character in the manga and caused him to get more coldblooded , that's the reason why obito declared war and killed so much people because he isolated himself from the world therefore he got so cold he couldnt feel anything but pain.

That's why i like so much obito because that mask of his represents his pain and solitude, i also share this same trait of putting up tough fronts and not letting people help me.
Even thoug kishimoto screwed up a lot of things he did an amazing job with obito which is a very deep and relatable character.

you're looking at it in a very simplistic way, that's why when obito accepted himself naruto said "you're no longer wearing a mask"

what was the flame mask for?

He was the uchiha police force soloer

Off paneling every one and everywhere he goes.

all the masks of obito represent the same thing

Even the white one?

I though for sure it was hinting off rinnegan

Im sad he was killed cause of the plot.

I really wanted him becoming the Hokage. Even alive would be good.

Indeed. His mask was very symbolistic of his character.

and what's your point related to the thread?

sure, it couldnt have been because he wanted to conceal his identity and if he had showed his face it wouldve ruined the whole "im madara" plan he worked up. . . . yea it was the feels.

you said "that's why when obito accepted himself naruto said "you're no longer wearing a mask", was that before or after naruto broke the only mask he had on him?

Obito said he didn't wan't to be anyone, Face represents ones life and all the emotions. For Obito the Mask was like FREEDOM, he was no longer bound to what he should be, because he could be anyone and anything he wanted......Its is both desirable and sad to be honest.

Obito's reasons for siding with Madara and abandoning everything he held dear were very lame. He did it all simply because he felt betrayed by the fact Kakashi couldn't protect Rin. The loss of a childhood crush causing him to abandon all hope for his life thereafter is just bad writing.

Obito was 10x more deep and intriguing as Tobi than he was as Obito. The first mask was basically an anbu variation. The second was a physical representation of his Kamui swirl. The third was to represent the Shar-Rinnegan. Outside of that, they were just masks, which obviously mean to hide a truth and cut one-self from reality.
