its not BS minato told kakashi not to use chidori due to the huge drawback of can only run in a straight line, the sharingan helps by being able to predict your opponent movement.
naruto's natural affinity is wind but he can still learn other elements its just easier for a sharingan use to copy other element.

Chidori has good piercing power w/o excessive speeds vs humans at least, remeber when sasuke got naruto at VoTE? Its still useful one only has to create an opening or attack from behind but not head on. Its really isnt much different then rasengan

sharingan cant copy KKG, but can copy basic element tech dude. you think kakashi got 3 element( 4 but that was anime-only) with basic training.
