Okay this won't be a popular idea but here it goes.

There has been a non stop TNJ war between Naruto and Obito and I think that the whole idea is that this war isn't just about power its about ideals of the two of them.

Its Naruto who doesn't give up on the world vs Obito who has given up on the world.

Kishi actually said in an interview (find it yourself if you want to check) that the message of the manga was to not give up on the world.

Even if Obito is defeated then that wouldn't really be closure to his character or to his ideal war with Naruto, that's why I think that in the end at his defeat he will admit that he was wrong or something like that. Its the ultimate defeat for him not to just be beaten in battle but to have his ideals destroyed.

Naruto almost gave up on his ideals when Neji died and Obito almost TNJ him, but Naruto's friends saved him.

Plus it wouldn't really bring closure to Minato's or Kakashi's character if Obito is just killed and forgotten about.

So ultimately I think that the only way to bring true closure to Obito's character is that he is beaten both in battle and in TNJ.

Hell no, if he does get TNG'd after ALL of this. Kishi is going to get a lot more haters, then when we found out Tobi was Obito.

I agree with you, but ultimately he has to lose the physical battle first, and when/if he's broken and defeated, he'll say to himself/Naruto/people nearby that he was wrong, that he knew what he was doing was wrong, but he'll look up to the sky and close his eyes for the last time, seeing Rin, Minato, and whoever else was his friends. And even though he lost in every way, he'll still be happy because in a weird way, he's going into his own fantasy, what he always wanted, a world where everything goes your way, where you're always happy... He'll be in his own little Infinite Tsukuyomi called heaven hahaha.

That's basically what I am thinking, Obito will be defeated through battle and then with one last talk he will be TNJ and completely defeated in every way.

To be honest I already new this was coming. It is such a common used plot element, even in other series'. To defeat the final villain you have to defeat them and their ideals. Unless it turns out Obito isn't the final villain. In which case he will still be TNJ'd except he will give his life up honorably fighting the final villain.

That's what I was thinking to be honest. After Obito is defeated, I can't see him going without any last words. Like you said he will remember his times with Rin, Kakashi and Minato.

Yeah he has to realize he was wrong. He's most likely the last Big Bad of the manga, and the one who's responsible for most of the plot. Plus he was clearly depicted as a parallel to Naruto. Combine all that and you know Obito pretty much HAS to admit he was wrong tearfully while dying and praising Naruto.

But no doubt he'll have to be defeated first, else too many readers would complain.

Of course, nearly every major villain gets tnj. Every villain with a sympathetic past get tnj.
