I am bored waiting for the next installment
I was wondering why would Obito take on the name TOBI

If Hashirama's nick name is Hashi
Then it would follow that Tobirama may have been known as Tobi

Why take on the name of the ONE PERSON MADARA probably hates above all others
Madara has issues/ rivalry with Hashirama
but
Tobirama is the one that killed his last brother.

Perhaps this was foretelling his betrayal of Madara?
or
Maybe just an homage to being The Real MAdara's supordinate like Tobi was to Hashi

Just idle convo until the Manga is presented next.

I think you're putting too much thought into this.
It's more likely that the Writer of Naruto chose a name that was simple, and wouldn't give away too much info about who was under the mask.
There was no famous ninja (as far as we know) with the name "Tobi", so if by any chance somebody heard the name, it wouldn't stand out to them as been an uber-powerful ninja. So nobody cared.
So he just stuck with the akatsuki for a while with the name "Tobi"(not sticking out), until the time was right for him to make his move.

Now that we have found out who actually is under the mask, the name "Tobi" has just faded in to the background, & no longer has anything to do with the story.

Well I for one find it a clever way for Kishi to mindf*ck us. Tobi has something childish in it and it was perfect for Obito's initial goofy appearance. Then it also gives us hints about his real being and at the same time it makes it so obvious that we think that it's impossible. I only started to believe that Tobi was Obito 6-7 chapters before his relevation. Not saying that I'm sad with how things turned, I found it very interesting to see the hero becoming the fallen angel.

Tobi means 10 tails.

I do hope that you're trolling.

OT: Tobi can be translated as the i form of "to fly" (飛ぶ, tobu), or as "kite" (鳶). The latter translation connects Tobi with Taka through the Japanese proverb "a hawk born from a kite" (鳶が鷹を生む, tobi ga taka o umu), meaning that an extraordinarily gifted child can be born from ordinary parents.

tobi can be translated as ten tail's depending on what japanese alphabet you use
You must be registered for see images
It sounds like "toe", but again, don't let the "oe" slip towards a "w" sound.
This is the only number in the system that doesn't have the つ at the end.
It may seem complicated, but if you remember these, you can count practically any item and Japanese people will understand. It is much easier than learning all the different counters.
Why does Japanese have two counting systems? In a nutshell, the first system's pronunciations are based off Chinese (音読み on'yomi "Chinese reading"), since the Japanese borrowed their kanji (ideographic, or idea-expressing, characters) from the Chinese language centuries ago. The second system is derived from the native Japanese words (訓読み kun'yomi "Japanese reading") for numbers. In modern Japanese, most kanji have both an on'yomi and a kun'yomi - and often more than one - and both readings are used depending on the (grammatical) situation.
to=ten bi=tails
look at what he said around 0:35
one-tails.two-tails im tobi=tentails

Tobi translates to the 'I-form" of "to fly". Tobi teleports and flying and teleporting are both mythical forms of transportation? It can also mean kite. Also, according to Naruto-Wikia Tobi with Taka [Sasuke's Organization] leads to "Tobi Ga Taka O Umu" which means a Hawk born from a Kite which is a Japanese Proverb - it means, extraordinary pupil born from normal parents. This could mean that Obito had "nobody-parents". After some research, I also found this - Tobi shokunin, which is a construction worker in Japan, usually shortened to Tobi. This could imply that while Madara is the architect, Obito is the builder. Tobi is a name in Nigeria - according to the native Yoruba dialect, it means "Jesus" or "God" which could imply that Obito is the "Messiah". I'm just babbling right now -

It's probably because Tobi is a short and easy name.
