The way i look at it was the fact he never showed that great of feat's in a fight were he couldn't use his Kumai, infact i don't think we have ever seen him fighting without kumai.

I've always said he was overrated and i was right, he's actually not that good in a sense. Don't get me wrong a mean he's up their with the best of them because he's untouchable to most of the Ninja's in naruto, You take that away from him and kakashi would wipe the floor with him like he always has.

The real difference is that Kakashi was able to figure out the idea of Obito's S/T ninjutsu. Obito was just messing around with Kakashi in chapter 608, and only tried dealing the finishing blow at the near end of the chapter.
