Very few antagonists are genuinely evil in this series, most are only going about their means to justify the end. The only [major] antagonist I would rate as genuinely evil would be Orochimaru or Madara, although I even have doubts about him.

^and that.

the only reason i find him genuinely evil when compared to Nagato (let's say) is that Nagato's plan was about redistributing the power in the world and i actually think his plan was not all that bad. Obito and Madara are clearly forcing people to do sth against their wishes! and they think that this is normal! compared to Orochimaru... i am not sure who is evil-er... maybe the same.

I don't think kishi showed us Obito's capacity for good when he was young for no reason. It was either just to show difference in his former and current self....or it was to show that redemption is possible for him. Afterall this manga is quickly getting a theme of forgiveness being the answer to hate....maybe naruto ends up forgiving obito or something.....I mean how else is kishi going to provide an answer to hate for naruto. I can't think of a better way to rid the world of hate than to have unyeilding forgiveness.......if kishi finds a different answer than forgiveness, then I will give him credit for some serious smarts.
