So, these last few chapters of the manga have clearly revealed the mask of Obito being formed from the zetsu:

My question is when, and why, did it become a halloween mask?

The mask symbolized mystery....i miss that feeling of not knowing who's behind the mask
The sheer awesomeness of the design couldn't be ignored.

It was for the mystery and the fact that Kakashi for example wouldnt know who he was, his plan was to act like Madara to scare anyone

When he grew up and matured and didn't need him anymore or maybe they fussed together and became one, that would explain the goofy tobi cos obito is way too serious.

till now obito has used 3 types of masks (detachable)......the 2nd one MATCHES with the spiral zetsu pattern....thats all......i dont think that mask is made of off spiral zetsu....obito was just ...u can say...inspired by that pattern..

I think dat zetsu was absorbed in the half Zetsu part of Obito and his personality is still in Obito and that is why we have seen a Goofy personality in Obito's body !

The mask is just a reminder that he is not alone ! He still has dat Zetsu... maybe he uses zetsu telepathy this way to get information all over the Shinobi World !
