the way Viz has it "chakra is what connects this world and theirs" implies that actually anybody is capable of sending their chakra back (after all, Japan is a country believing in reincarnation). So it isn't really strange/an asspull that Obito can do this.

The reason why you don't see other ppl do this is because they don't have unfinished business, unlike Obito who wants to be alone with Rin, Ashura who came back to pass on ninshuu, and Indra who returned to be an eternal rival to his brother.

Heck, why would anyone want to come back and live in this hell?
