But I'm curious as to how it would work if was against Itachi or Sasori.
Itachi doesn't even need to have contact with another Shinobi in order to win. His genjutsu is usually enough.
Furthermore, Sasori doesn't need to be in close range to use his large arsenal of puppets. I'll admit if he does get found by Obito, he could be in trouble, but Sasori's keen analytical skills should help with him defeating Obito. (The only reason why Sasori lost to his grandmother and Sakura was because he willfully died and that his Grandmother was the worst possible matchup for him).
As far as long range abilities, could you clarify as to what these abilities are? I do know Obito can use long range fire jutsu, but would you have any other ideas.

OT: One touch and your finished. 14 y/o Obito took on the 4th hokage and almost owned him.
double kamui = double the speed, almost instant. He can literally let you rot away in kamuiland.

He has his left Mangekyou back which is notorious for the "kamui snipe" which is nearly impossible to defend against.
Obito is also a genjutsu master as well, shown to be able to control the 4th Mizukage Yagura, even though he was considered a perfect jinchuuriki. Sasori is a pretty good match up for Obito, as he can easily continuously attack him for 5 minutes, and one scratch is needed to put him down, but as you've already said, if Sasori is found, he's in some deep shit.

Edit: Unless Obito's sharingan can counter Itachi's genjutsu.

Unlike naruto n sasuke he dont get power from hagoroma both obito n maddy powers are only theirs .u forget naruto defeated pain n after controlling kyuubi kurama said he is stronger than minato .so at that time he fight with obito he cant able to touch obito if naruto didnt has kakashi kamui then that fight will still goes on .one thing obito mistake is he didnt take sharingan from kakashi otherwise he solos minato at 14

not to take away anything from his skill, but i think an objective observer can fairly say that fight was more like them vs. Kamui.
if you're referring to his encounter with JJ Madara, he used some of Hashirama's senjutsu that he stole to absorb dmg from the shot he took from Madara. He never fought a JJ anyway because he was busy trying to escape.

not to say it isn't true, but in any Obito vs. anyone scenario, ppl tend to talk as if his opponent will just stand there and let him 1 shot them with Kamui or that they are entirely incapable of figuring out his Kamui.
this is part of why there are those who believe he is overrated, because he still isn't considered to officially be one of the individuals in ninja history who were able to completely control a bijuu. Certain dialogue after Minato stripped control of it from him pretty much suggested it was a 1 shot deal, not something he could do at any given point.
Konan forced him to use a forbidden jutsu to get the advantage over her. Not only that, but he was getting backed up against the wall by guys Madara soloed with near neg diff. And to top it all off, he had Hashirama's DNA, MS, & 1 of Madara's Rinnegan...and still got beat by Kakashi. Overrated.
