Obito is my new favorite character in this manga

I've always had a soft spot for tragic characters, be it Batman, Oedipus, Itachi, etc, and Obito has got to top my list.

The thing about Obito is that he was never really evil, he always wanted to just help the entire world. Sure, his actions may have not been the best course or seen as ethical, but overall he didn't do them to just cause suffering, he wanted to just help people, flawed as he may be. His plan even makes sense when you think about it, as it would bring true peace, however it is not the ethical course.

What makes it even more tragic is how he started out nearly as pure as Naruto. He had his fall early in the story, and now its his chance for redemption.

Obito is far and away the most developed character in this manga, and Kishimoto deserves praise for making him. Contrary to what people want you to believe, he's not a psychotic pedophile that's obsessed with a ten year old girl. He is a broken man, hanging onto his memories with sheer will to keep some part of him human.

I find that people who dislike Obito dislike him for lame and superficial reasons, while the people who do like him like him for in depth and thoughtful reasons.
