There seems to be some confusion about whether or not Obito's alive, and I'm here to tell you it's a manga fact that he's dead.

Both say "Obito is no more."

Obito's dead. Hope this clarifies any confusion.

that isnt concrete evidence..

there is a lot of manga in the past that have said the same thing and is actuallt refering to their mind and body rather than whether they are alive or not

His head needs to be decapitated just to make sure.

I don't want that fúcker coming back.

Fobito is dead YEHUUU

Itachi lives in my fellow fanboys heart on

Rip

Don't turn this into a bashing thread. A person asked me if he's dead or not, so, in case there's other people out there unsure, this thread needed to be made for clarification.

If he is, then he's coming back to life.

That could just mean that he isn't in control of his body, so BZ is psychologically speaking that he is 'no more'. Kishi wouldn't just kill him off like that.

Also BZ obviously needs a living body that functions to amplify his powers/use sharingan...otherwise he would just separate (why attach yourself to useless dead body).

He's making him function, but for all tenses and purposes, he is dead.

If he's making him 'function', then he is alive. Without BZ, Obito would die definitely (as he said himself) but BZ is keeping him alive. There's no logic to keeping Obito's 'dead' body.

What are the odds that both translations are using a phrase most commonly used to say someone's dead, only he isn't?

This is an interesting thread with a lot of well constructed arguments, and it's definitely a subject I think about often. Obviously, the answer to this question is highly subjective, and I don't believe there is a single right answer. I like reading everyone's opinion on the matter, though, and I hope this discussion goes on.****

Could simply mean Obito is a vegetable, Black Zetsu finally took over and now Obito's consciousness is no more. That's a form of dead, but not really.

Don't know, we'll have to wait until official Viz scan before making any 'official' statements I guess. Personally, I just don't think it's Kishi's style to just kill off an important character like that. He still to have a final interaction with Kakashi/Naruto/Minato or another chance to redeem himself.
