Darth Vader only became what he was because he was guilty over the death of Padme, he was too immersed in the dark side to come back to the Light and he was also incredibly guilty for his slaughter of the Jedi on Coruscant. I also spotted a mistake in your post. You claim that Vader was a former friend of the teacher of the main character. Vader is the main character. Star Wars is about the rise, fall and redemption of Anakin Skywalker. Darth Vader did not turn evil because of his guilt over killing Padme, he became a Sith so he could gain the power to keep her alive, a deception that would lead him even further down the path to becoming a true Sith. Well, the main character thing waw a mistake (though you could still say Luke was the main character, as the PT leads up to his birth). Also, Anakin didn't turn out of guilt of Padme's death, he became Darth Vader before she died, he just found the dark side inescapable to exist after her death.

While Luke was portrayed to be the main character in the Prequel trilogy, is he really the main one? Out of all the movies, Darth Vader has been the one most consistently focused on. I know how Anakin turned to the dark side, I explained it in my previous post and I'll do so again. He turned to find power to keep Padme alive, he became further immersed due to the guilt he felt after killing Padme, slaughtering the Jedi and losing pretty much everything he loved.

To me Nagato/Pain and Obito are both Darth Vaders in their own way.

Nagato murdered Jiraiya who was his master and Naruto avenged Jiraiya who was also his master.

Anakin Murdered Obi who was his master and Luke Avenged him in a way in the end.
