I raged when Obito lost, and after awhile of thinking about it... I get what Kishi is trying to tell us with this.

Obito is what happens when someone lets bitterness and negativity destroy their life. Obito turned to someone that would explain away his perceived failures. Isolated from his friends, he was used and psychologically abused by Madara's BS Moon Eye plan. Obito rejected not only his friends, but their feelings even about himself. Ultimately Obito rejected the foundation of reality itself and the idea of hope or even the idea of human goodness.

There is simply no way to help someone like that, as words mean nothing to them. Obito didn't believe in anyone or anything. He had no sense of self or more accurately hated himself and hated how he felt the world had been unfair to him. To be entirely objective, the world wasn't really that fair to Obito. But life wasn't fair to Naruto either. Obito would not and could not accept that he had failed to save his friends, he preferred the illusion to the real thing and just wanted to keep running away like a coward.

In the end, I think Kishimoto ended up hating the character Obito. Even Kakashi gave up on Obito in the end. It's pretty depressing, but when someone rejects reality, hope, humanity and their friends, they end up dying miserable, bitter, pathetic, defeated and alone... just like Obito.

Anyone that's ever known a selfish, prideful sociopath like Madara Uchiha can relate to this. Sociopaths only care about themselves, and they shamelessly use others. In some ways, Madara is also like a sociopath. Obito got used and ended up giving up everything for someone that treated them like a total piece of garbage.

Moral of the story? Don't be an Obito... If there's someone that's destructive or something that is holding you back, Let it go. A hole has nothing in it. Nothing is in it, that's why it's called a holy life. One has to let go of their sense of self, and then find freedom.

I actually agree with you, Kishi is sending a message that you shouldn't give up on reality.

Well said my friend, but Obito isn't going to die! Well not like that anyway... Remember the last page? Minato and Naruto are going to save him i believe, they could sense him and his energy.

Obito sucks

Obito's strength didn't change. Stop whining and accept something called
character development
.
Kakashi got strong enough to defeat Obito, that hard to grasp?

Obito's true weakness was not caring about his friend's feelings and not being open to reality, instead just focusing on his own selfish desires and refusing to accept reality since it hadn't gone the way he liked. He just hid behind criticisms and cynical remarks, slipping through bad situations, instead of realizing what he was criticizing the rest of the world for what was in himself all along. Kakashi was able to see things his way (same eye) and therefore able to force Obito back to the real world -- unfortunately Obito was all too right... All that was left for him in reality was to be Madara's sacrifice. Obito destroyed his own life, and unfortunately nobody's there to put it back together for him.

Like Kakashi said, sometimes bad things happen and life keeps going on anyways. It's a really sad and poetic end for a great character, but I think this is the end for Obito...

You do realize that by outing Dark Naruto you will likely be killed like all the others?
