This is coming from a fan of Obito,so I guess this...oh god.
This discussion is centered mainly around the character Obito, his interests and why he is a broken character.I will divide the discussion into different parts, each part centered around a certain subject, which is a part of this whole discussion.
I hope you agree
1.The Backstory of Obito
Obito Uchiha was presented to us as a boy,who could care more about the village and his comrades, than himself. He was portrayed as a character, who would gladly lend a helpful hand where a helpful hand is needed. When he was revealed
to be Tobi, the man behind the mask,he told Kakashi that he started this war because of Rin.One of his comrades, who had died at the hand of Kakashi, one of his best friends.Obito later said he knew why Kakashi had to kill Rin,but he didn't UNDERSTAND why.
The problem lies within this part.If he understood the situation and agreed with Rin's choice of
sacrifice,he wouldn't later go on a rampage to kill all of the ninjas from the bloody mist.
Obito simply had to realise the actions that Rin made in order for him to move on.He didn't really need the help of his comrades like he later on was told. And why the sudden change of character? Why did he care more about one girl than he would for everybody else equally? That is another bad character development.
2.The Only Ray of Light in Obito's World
Obito mentioned that Rin was his only ray of light, which would explain why he couldn't move on.If you have only one thing precious to you in your life and you lose it,it will be easy for you to mentally break down. But looking at the death of Rin logically could maybe fix that up,making the whole talk that "you need comrades to help you fill that void in your heart" useless.
3.Obito's Plan is Beyond Stupid
Obito wants to go ahead and make a whole new dream world, where everybody is satisfied and there is always peace and make a fourth great ninja war, because he acts straight-forward-like.This means he doesn't stop to think and rather goes ahead and never stops to realise his ways are wrong. And why create a whole new world, rather than just solve your problems and move ahead? Why doesn't Obito's character development, well,DEVELOP?!?Why is Obito made only to hang to one branch and then jump to the other, never going forward and always going back? Why is he always reminded of the past and never pushed into the future? Why is Kishimoto making Naruto convince him all this time and then right at the most inconvenient and undramatical time make Obito change. He said he finally saw Naruto's way,but wants to die, because he couldn't atone for his sins. That is cowardly and completely breaks every piece of logic there was in Obito's character! If he really liked Rin and loved her,he would go ahead and take his punishment, but he would rather die.
I think Kishimoto wants to kill him off, because he keeps Obito going back and forth-to past and present. And I,as a fan of Obito, want Obito to die, because he was completely ruined by Kishi.I think right now I'm reminded of the past Obito from around chap.599-602,because he was not as broken as now, still broken, but now as much.
I hope I got my point across and I hope you understand why Obito is a failed attempt at character development.
