Well it would make sense, but I think it's locked on Rinnegan, just like it was locked on it for Nagato, and the Sharingan is locked on for kakashi, as well as Danzo.

However since those eyes are of Uchiha blood, and Obito IS uchiha, it would make sense if he can deactivate it.

I think if it's implanted you can't change it and he got his through nagatos dead body. Kakashi can go three tomo to MS but its still tehcnally sharingan and its upgrading not going to to the original eye. Soo I think that the rinnegan isn't going to a sharingan.

you forget Rinnegan is basically sharigan upgraded with senju dna

Who knows? If Obito is able to use the EMS, there's a logical explanation (He's an Uchiha, so he has the abiltity to turn it off). And if he can't, then there's a logical explanation for that too (Just like Nagato and Kakashi, he can't switch back cause it's an implanted eye).

he implanted the eye, so its locked on. every implanted eye we have seen have stayed locked on i.e danzo, kakashi, nagato. except the eye is upgraded by he user, then can it be deactivated. but if otherwise, then its stays the way it was transplanted

unless the rinnengan is like Ao's byakugan that can be deactivated, i don't see him doing that anytime soon, and since he is an uchiha shouldn't it affect his other eye as well? then that would mean kakashi also have EMS

Nah I don't think it works like that, I think the stages from Sharingan to MS to EMS to Rinnegan can only be controlled by the owner of the eyes: Madara. The reason Nagato and Obito can use the Rinnegan was because that's the way Madara wanted it (for his plan). Obito will never get EMS because he has no close relative/ brother left.
