Yup, Obito used and abused Itachi.
HAHahaha. No.
Itachi thought that Obito was a weakened Madara, as he keeps telling everyone, and even then didn't think he could challenge Obito without the EMS. And even then, Itachi didn't even know how powerful Obito really was.
Itachi only got as far as the "fail" part.
Itachi only stopped Kimimaro, Chiyo, and a weakened Muu... with Sasuke's help.
Obito made a sham deal. Itachi thought he was bargaining for Konoha's safety from Madara, but in actuality it was Obito and he didn't give a shit about Konoha; only about the Moon's Eye Plan.
Also notice that it was a bargain, at no point did Itachi ever have the upper hand on Obito to make or enforce threats.
I guess I'll counter some of this just because I can. U_U
1. No, not really. I don't remember Obito ever attempting to attack Itachi, even though theoretically if he was strong enough he should have considering that he knew that Itachi would never catch Naruto and was never for Akatsuki in the first place. I just remember Obito screaming and burning from that amaterasu activation and then having to use Izanagi to turn it into an illusion.
2. Yeah, he was pretty scared/cautious of Itachi. That manga panel w/ Obito's statement makes it clear. Kishi made it once again clear in the RTN movie he wrote the script for in which Obito and Itachi encounter each other & Obito decides to run away after Itachi tells him that even with Kamui, there is still a way to hurt him.
3. Everyone thought Obito was Madara until he took off his mask. The entire world was fooled, there is no shame in believing he was Madara. That and Itachi never wanted to fight Obito. He wanted Sasuke to do that and be known as a hero for doing so, that's why he told Sasuke that entire story about EMS. Itachi wanted Sasuke to awaken MS after their fight, then take his eyes and gain EMS when he would start to go blind, then go after "Madara" and take him down so he could be even more of a hero.
4. All the Uchiha fail. In fact no, all the shinobi do. Humans are not perfect and it is only natural for them to do so. Obito was used as a tool his entirely life and noticed that since he went down the wrong path, his life has essentially been totally useless. Sasuke has spent his entire life going after revenge only to find out that he was wrong about everything and that he gets nowhere. Madara lost time and time again to Hashirama and his entire clan betrayed him in favor of the Senju. Maddy is also about to get his ass handed to him by two 17 year olds as we speak. Itachi failed as well, but not nearly as hard as the others did.
5. Ending Edo Tensei helped both sides. Kabuto summoned more Edos, they were just no-names though and didn't get much panel time considering that it would be useless because they had no relevance to the story other than being fodders in Kabuto's Edo army. They would still cause damage though. Also, it benefitted the Edos, considering that none appreciated being used as puppets and forced to fight against their comrades, they wanted to go back and R.I.P.
6. Yeah, that's why he killed his sensei and attempted to destroy Konoha back when he was 14. Obito still did care about destroying Konoha.
7. But it was also a bargain that Obito could have thrown away, he's not exactly a good guy and his word has been proven to be trash before. Itachi apparently had the upper hand judging by Obito's statements and the fact that he didn't attempt to harm him even though he knew he was no real use to Akatsuki and could have been replaced by any other missing-nin.
