Obito Uchiha, the one who started it all. Alot of people have been saying Obito was some last minute trolling by kishi or that he wasnt intended to be the masked man, or people just want to easily scream PLOT HOLE. But Obito from the start has slowly been building up to his big reveal in chapter 599. When i say he knew who he wanted the masked man to be, im talking about the main overall villian of naruto, since there was no masked man in from chapter 1 onwards.
Kishi has stated in an interview if he already knew who tobi was. Kishimoto stated he knew who he wanted the masked man to be since chapter 1.
And ever since hes been leaving little subtle hints that you wouldnt catch first glance.
Obito was first given notice to in chapter 8
He was then quoted a few pages later
It was then that kishi made his first twist. The main heroes morals came from the villain and we didnt even know it yet.
This one isnt really foreshadowing since the title of the chapter was directly referencing Haku, but it can also be a small nod at a bigger picture.

The first official drawing of obito was shown in the chapter titled "Who are you": Chapter 16
The next time Obito was referenced was during the Hokages funeral, this was when we first learned Obitos name: Chapter 139
Kakashi was visiting the Memorial stone when the girl asked him if hes here visiting Obito
Now this is really interesting the Viz manga title for the chapter Obito's name was first revealed was title Eulogy. Since it was the third hokages funeral. BUT that is not the original japanese title. Its actually roughly translates to. "The name of that person is...!!"
Now i read this chapter 5 times back and forth after learning the real title, Nobody new is given a name, its mostly funeral and flashback, Itachi and kisame still remain nameless until later chapters. The only name revealed was Obitos
"The name of that person is..."
Obito was never mentioned again until the end of Part 1 of the naruto series, where we see his and kakashis story. The day kakashi became the famous copy ninja and Obitos first official appearance in the manga.
Keep in mind that Obito is the one who started the naruto series and is basically ending it, since hes one of the final villains other than madara. This could all be coincidence but right after the akatsuki is shown the very next chapter on the first page is their leader as a child.
So the main villain of the series is first shown in between Part 1 and Part 2
And then is first revealed at the end of the first arc of Part 2. Which also just so happens to be 4 chapters after kakashi reveals his new sharingan. Both chapters are in the same volume. Not a strong hint but a weird coincidence.
Now were diving into obvious territory, the hints that made it very clear that the masked man was obito (I say this because when i first read this i was 100% sure that Tobi was Obito back in 2009)
Kakashi is the first person to notice Tobis Sharingan.
Kakashi then asks a question. Paralleling a question that naruto once asked a masked ninja who stood on top of a tree.
"Who are you?" Naruto asked that in chapter 16 which mirrors chapter 396 somewhat, and the link is obitos picture on the chapter title page of chapter 16.

Other hints that i decided not to post on the thread are the similarities to kakashis kamui and tobis teleportation swirls b4 it was directly noted they are the same. And the coincidences that wherever tobi is doing madara ish things kakashi is never far behind. Like how Kakashi noticed the sharingan, Kakashi had Tobi at lightning blade point when he told naruto the truth of itachi and sasukes resolve and their eventual fated battle, and how Kakashi was a bystander behind naruto while tobi was behind sasuke when naruto told sasuke hed fight him to the death. Making the already obvious opposites mirror even bigger.
I also would like to add that Obitos fated battle with the 4th is a mirror to Orochimaru and the 3rd
Both students of the 3 man cell of the future hokage, both attack the village, has a 1 on 1 vs their sensei, both of their long term goals are put on hold until a later time via the Reaper death seal, Obito loses the nine tails thus halting his moon eye plan which requires the nine tails and Orochimaru lost the chakra in his arms thus halting his plan to master all ninjutsu.
