Indeed, as far as I'm concerned Madara shouldn't have been introduced at all. But w/e, the war arc was terrible for me in general.

As the antichrist of Naruto he was indeed. People just didn't like the rin motivation.

Nagato was also an antichrist but only in regards to the toad prophecy.

Madara was just a ghost of the past as well as Kaguya.

Madara would have made an....acceptable final villain.
Obito would have made a better final villain since most everything that went down was a direct(and indirect) result of his actions regardless of Madara being his guiding force.

His reason (Rin) notwithstanding, everything he represented was anti Naruto value. He was basically what Naruto would have become had he been swallowed by hatred. Naruto had nothing in common with Madara...

...I won't even start with Kaguya.

I wouldn't say it was a complete disappointment, but I would say its quite underwhelming.
