Hi guys.
(beware of long post)
I've noticed that Obito has recieved a lot of hate during these past few weeks. Some of you are saying things such as: he is lame, a crybaby and so on... And yes, I know the reasons why some of you are hating on him. Obviously, the biggest reason is because of this: when he turned evil and agreed with Madara to create a dream world, it was all based solely on Rin's death alone. You got disappointed and you expected a much better reason... Am I right?
But guys, he was only 13/14 years old when he witnessed Kakashi piercing Rin. Back in the old days, when they all were around 6/7 years old, the only person who spent time with him was Rin. Without her, he would have been lonely. Pretty much all the other students didn't care about him as much as she did. Rin was the only person close to Obito who actually talked to him when no one was around and was the first person who came to acknowledge his dream of becoming Hokage. She also stood by his side, took care of him whenever he got hurt etc. He grew up with her, NOT Kakashi. Because of all the things Rin has done for Obito, she became the closest person to him. She was his world. Some people say that she was only his ''crush''. I disagree, she meant much more than that to him and you should have already realised it by now. He did not only like her, he LOVED her.
Think about it, before his supposed ''death'', he gave one of his sharingans as a gift to Kakashi, whom he finally acknowledged for being a true jounin. Before he ''died'', his one and only wish was for Kakashi to take care of Rin. Of course, Kakashi promised him, and sadly, we know how it turned out. As the rocks fell down on him, he was seen thinking his ''last'' thoughts about his team, how he couldn't bring himself to confess to Rin, that he finally became on good terms with Kakashi, and he wished to spend more time with everyone... And right after that moment, we thought he was dead when he, in fact, was not.
Then the flashback starts, explaining how he met Madara, how he got his MS together with Kakashi, bla bla bla. But let's start from the beginning. While he was in the cave along with Madara and the Zetsus, the only thing he cared about was to get out of there ASAP and meet up with Kakashi and Rin once again. Judging by his determination, he cared about both of them very deeply and tried his best to escape, the creepy place he was in, for good. However, while he was trying to do it, Madara speaks to him (and you know how much of a manipulator he is) about how the world is like the hell, where there is only pain and suffering and tells him his plan about creating a dream world where only peace, love and winners exists. What does Obito do? Doesn't believe him. As he is trying to escape, the flashbacks within the flashback starts to show. It shows the moments he shared with his team. Yeah, let's say we got some team Minato development (mostly about his love for Rin though).
Several months had passed. Yet, after all the training he has done, he STILL wanted to meet up with Kakashi and Rin. That shows how much he really valued his comrades, despite all the things Kakashi did to him in the past, he still cared about him. One day, Zetsu informed him that Kakashi and Rin were in a big trouble. He did not hesitate, as he was trying to break the wall which blocked the entrance. The only thing on his mind was to save them.
He started to make his way to the battlefield where Kakashi and Rin were fighting some Hidden Mist Ninjas. When he finally arrived to the place, he saw something he could have never imagined seeing once in his lifetime. What does Obito see? Kakashi piercing Rin through her heart while he was watching from afar. He saw his love of his life and the person most dear to him getting killed off by someone who was supposed to TAKE CARE of her AND someone whom he, not so long ago, acknowledged. Not to mention, he has been training and wanting to meet them for a long time. If I were to witness it myself, I would rage too. Wouldn't you?
Have you seen his face when he saw Rin fall to the ground? Look at it again, and you will know exactly how he felt at the moment. His anger afterwards adds even more to it about how he felt. Remember, he has NEVER witnessed something like this in his entire life, as I stated before. He looks completely shattered, not knowing what to do next, which led him to lose control.
From that chapter onwards, most of you keep saying how the series, mostly Obito, is going downhill... And once again, I disagree. It saddens me to see that many of you are starting to hate Obito because you think his sole reason for wanting a dream world is because of Rin... Yeah, I do agree that he wants to create a world where she's alive, and of course, where he can meet and be with her again... But it is NOT only because of her! It seems to me that you guys haven't followed his character at all throughout all these years. Obito clearly stated, while he was cradling Rin and at the same time glancing at Kakashi, that he wants to change the fate of the world. He doesn't care about the present world anymore, nor does he care about the people in it. He knows that when his plan is fulfilled, the people he killed will come back to life in the new one, free from anything bad.
There you go, Kishi gave you the answer you were craving for. And what do you do? Still complain about his reasons... Gosh, stop it. It's getting annoying. There is more to his character that meets the eye. And please, don't compare Obito's reasons for turning evil with someone like... Let's say, Sasuke. Their reasons for wanting to achieve something is on a whole diffrent level and they completely differ from each other, so stop with it as well. Look at Obito as an independent character who has his reasons for wanting peace instead of comparing him with the other bad guys in the series. Then you'll surely appreciate him more.
I can understand that some of you are hating on him because THE WAY he wants to fulfill his plan is wrong... What I mean is, destroying Konoha, creating a war and killing hundreds of innocent people who did nothing wrong, when on the other hand, he could just collect the bijuus without harming anyone. I do not blame you. I also, do admit, that it IS wrong. But hating him for his reason of wanting to live with Rin, the one he treasured the most, once again? Then you clearly don't understand him and his deep love for her. I know that every person has diffrent opinions, but saying: ''His reason is weak, he sucks!'' or ''He is doing all this because of one girl that friendzoned him? That's so LAME!!'' is NOT okay. And NO, she did NOT friendzone him. Furthermore, she wasn't even aware of Obito's feelings for her until Kakashi told her about it after Obito's ''death''.
Regarding the flashbacks, you people also complain about it... Why? Did you seriously thought that Kishi intended to reveal WHY Kakashi killed off Rin in OBITO's own flashback, when he himself doesn't know the reason why? I'm sure Kishi is going to reveal WHY it happened during the upcoming fight between Obito and Kakashi.
I think that Kishi has done a very great job developing Obito as a character. What I like about him is that he was pretty much like Naruto in the beginning. They shared the same goals, they are deeply in love with their female teammate and they both had the Will of Fire in them. They want to achieve peace, but in their own ways. You can say that Obito is what Naruto would have become like if he took a diffrent path in his life. I assume you already know this.
I really like Obito as a character. He is one of my favourites and I do understand him and his reasons for turning bad. I also think it's refreshing to see that Obito, who's one among the bad guys in the series, loves a girl so much, that he's willing to do everything to meet her again in NARUTO, which is rare (where romance is almost absent). Not only that, he also wants to create a better world.
So guys, if you have read all this, do you still think his reasons for doing all this are weak? Why/Why not? Could Kishi have done a better job than just having Rin and Obito's desire to change the fate of the world? What more could he add?
By the way, I'm a HUGE Obito fan. This post may come off as rude, but it's not. I only wanted to express my thoughts about the matter.
But still... It feels like I'm the only Obito fan left. Anyone out there who's also a fan? :/
