What shocked me the most and about Obito when he was reveled as Tobi was his reason behind his plans, Rin. I knew he would say that, but I didn't think it would be what he saw as the sole reason for his plans. So now after I have read a few more chapters and some more have gotten said by Madara and Obito, his reason that he said was Rin just doesn't make sense anymore. We know he turned "bad" when Rin died at Kakashi's hand, we know that he wants to change the world. But if his sole reason for wanting that was to get Rin back or to avenge her then it doesn't make any sense. If you continue reading you might understand what I mean.

Rin died not very long after Obito's "death" and we know now that Obito witnessed the death of Rin and that Kakashi killed her. We also know that it was at the time he awakened the Mangekyou Sharingan and became more cold. He also said to Madara that he didn't care for this world anymore and that he wanted to change it. He later during the war says that his reason for doing this is because of Rin, not her death so he might not mean to avenge her, but I don't think that is what his reason is. Why? Because even though Rin is in the Afterlife there have been ways to get a person out of that. Which are 2 jutsu, Edo Tensei and Rinne Tensei. Obito now knows how to use both of them. Kabuto did show it to Obito and by what Madara said, Obito can perform the Rinne Tensei on him at the cost of his life. Now even though he has both the means and says he is doing it to get Rin back he is still sticking with his Eye of the Moon plan even though he will need to die to make it happen, since he has to revive Madara. Now why would he do that if he wanted Rin back? Do he want to be with her in teh Afterlife? Then why not just kill himself, he could have just revived her with Rinne Tensei but that would most likely cost him his life.

So what is Obito's goal here? We know he isn't really a friend of Madara and that Madara needs him. But do Obito intend to help Madara or not and why do he want to "destroy" the world so badly? My guess is that he never did it for Rin, he just decided that he would do when she died. I think he wants to rebuild a world as he saw it as a child. I think his goal is the same now as when he was a child and that its the same goal as Naruto only that he has chosen another way to do it. We know that Obito when he was a kid cared alot about, Friendship, love, care and peace. Much like a Senju, but he is a Uchiha and he turned to revenge at last, or did he? So what are your thoughts?

He did it for Rin

He doesn't want to revive her, because he doesn't want her to witness this world of lie.. This ''hell''
I guess that can makes sense, but if he is doing it for her, then she will we dead and separated from the real world forever unless he revives her, which he cannot do if he intends to complete the Eye of Moon plan.

It will become his dream world

He can create anything he wants, if you're trying to say the Rin in the dream world is fake, yes she will be fake

But this is theory, it could also be that you need to look at the moon, before you enter the dreamworld, is this what you mean?

That Rin won't be able to do this cuz she's dead..?

Yeh.. I don't want to sound too disrespectful but that's why I believe Obito still has the mentality of a child, he wants to "make everything good again", to make a world like it was when he was a kid. Things don't work like that..
That or he has a entirely different plan compared to that of Madara's. Just that he needs the Juubi.

In theory there would be 2 people who controlled the Dream World, Obito and Madara. But as far as we know only Madara can preform the Genjutsu, which is why Obito needs him. Now knowing that and that Madara would need to be revived in order to use the Genjutsu, Obito would need to die.

Obito would need to perform the Rinne Tensei to revive Madara, which kills him. Now without Obito, Rin will never be "created" in the dream world. So the best thing he get is ruining the world and being with Rin in teh Afterlife.

Naruto just became the most complicated manga :ghehe:

But I get your point

But I personally think Obito is 1 step ahead of Madara

But I'm out now g2g

I don't think Obito went evil because Rin died, but because of the circumstances surrounding her death. If Rin died because she tripped and fell on her own kunai, Obito would be immensely sad but he wouldn't have gone back to Madara. Not only did Kakashi break his promise by killing her, they were also attacked by another village. That scene is a perfect example of the conflict/wars/hatred there is between villages and their search for more power (Rin had something special that they wanted) and that protecting your friends and comrades is pretty much impossible due to this ("There's no hope" "No wish can become true in this world"). He basically wants to make a new reality where people no longer have to go through losing your friends (/"making excuses in front of graves") and where there is no such thing as a cycle of hatred... Because he's right, someone is just going to take their place and do everything all over again.

I think Obito is basically a villain who is disgusted with his own kind. And he has accepted that role to create peace.

Obito could plan on betraying Madara and getting Sasuke to do the moon eye plan genjutsu. I don't see why Obito would work so hard to do teh moon eye plan only for him to die.

It would be like running a company for years and then handing the company over to a rival company (Madara).

First of all, not a bad theory. Obito doesn't care about this world, it's unlikely he has any attachments to it at all. He wants to escape the pain of losing Rin by creating a new world. It's possible he's doing this all for Kakashi. As Kakashi is fodder, he could have killed Kakashi easily back during the 5 Kage arc.

I think at this point he wants to shit on the world and show everyone how shit it is lol

That was actually close to the answer I wanted... xD

It's not about Rin dying, it's about kakashi killing Rin with which he broke his promise and the fact that it was Rin makes it come in harder. He, just like nagato, gave up on the peacefull way and chose the violent way.
He has given up on the world/ the people.

EDIT: Animaeon described it better

Even if Obito revived her with the Rinne Tensei, Rin would still be a mortal...which would mean she could still die at anyone's hands.

If Obito created the Dream World of the Infinite Tsukiyomi, then that would mean Rin would be able to live for all of eternity.
