Obito manipulated S class criminals and the 5 great nations on his fingertips like it was child's play.
Just like Naruto brings out the good in people's hearts. Obito is a master at bringing out their hatred!
Who is Madara? Just a guy who was jealous of the Senju for surpassing his great Uchiha strength, and couldn't let it go, and now wants to take over the world indefinitely. He finds joy in fighting and hurting others with his power, establishing his dominance is a great source of pride for him.
Obito does not care for things like world domination or absolute power. His way is evil and brutal indeed, but his end goal is the abolishment of suffering. He has no hope left in the world, he thinks if the world is allowed to continue as it is, there will always be pain and suffering, like the kind he was forced to endure, that there will always be people trying to exact revenge for one thing or another. If the ninja system is allowed to exist, trash like himself will always be produced and circulate.
To Obito, a world like that^ is useless and must end. He wants to end free will, because the world that he wants to destroy is a product of that same free will.
Some of you might still think Rin is the reason behind all this......to you I'll say it again...
Rin's death was a catalyst. The real reason......was the state of the shinobi world. A world that causes more incidents like the one Obito had to see with his own eyes, a comrade murdering another comrade. That kind of world deserves only to disappear.
Naruto still has hope, he wants to bring true peace himself, Obito doesn't believe in him. He thinks that Naruto is just an immature child who just hasn't realised true despair yet.
Madara may have given Obito his vision of a perfect world, but does Madara believe in it himself? Does Madara really want what Obito is trying to achieve? Or did he just give Obito that incentive in order to entice him because only something like that would appeal to Obito? I think he did. Madara just wants the world under his heel, praising every aspect of his being, he is an ego maniac. Madara's ideal world is one in which he fights and wins all the time(thanks Varrah), that is what you can expect from his version of Mugen Tsukuyomi.
Obito rivals Naruto as Kishi's greatest character. Obito and Naruto are the best.
