Obito and Madara logic

We all know Obito and Madara want peace, and change their troubled world. But if they want peace why did they on multiple occasions kill innocent lives that were not neccesary to do.
For example Obito kills Uchiha in the massacre(maybe killed Yagura), kills all those Shinobi allience ninjas, and attempts to kill Kushina after he controls Kyuubi.
And Madara drops a meteor on the allience, and not continue his plan by getting distracted by Hashirama and Gai.
