In the United States say it was a conflict and Nukes were flying across both sides what will be the spots they would aim at?

I know for fact it was most likely be

New York
California
Washington D.C
Florida

What are some other places you'd think it will come from?

First place is DC. The capital of the US. Then New York, then everywhere else.

If you google you can find battle sceneries between US and USSR from cold war warhead scenarios.
I think they would first take out your military targets ,potential land silos sites and tell you to refrain retaliating from SSBNs and undetected silos otherwise would take out cities and economic targets next. They would have to blind you from detecting the launch first otherwise they would be facing immediate retaliation.

A lot of countries prefer to adopt a strategy that aims to destroy valuable military spots, rather than cities. This is especially true for nuclear warheads and is known as a counterforce strategy. The belief is that by reducing military power, said target is left fragile.

Targeting areas of value is known as countervalue and usually is more of a last resort/trump card.
