Are people seriously considering Itachi could win? I mean, we were shown Gai was better than Madara for a few seconds with the 8th Gate. Plus Izanami wouldn't work on Gai. Plus Gai does not need to look into Itachi's eyes. Plus even if Itachi can see through Gai's taijutsu with his eyes he's not nearly as fast. Maybe Gai would need to activate the 8th Gate and make it a tie, but that would be it. Itachi's badass and all, but one-on-one with Gai he's not good enough. He's better than him in areas that are not one-on-one combat, sure, but if you're going to measure them by that, Gai takes the cake.
