Tobi was the one who attacked the village and fought against minato! The long haired guy that talked to itachi in the flash back, people are assuming it's madara ..... Which is why itachi felt like he was madara because he maybe talked to the real madara and then tobi took his mask ect ect ... Then he created himself as madara uchiha since madara would have been dead!
This is all just speculation at this time no one can tell you for sure but the man who attacked the village was tobi/obito ... Btw he never manipulated minato. He made an observation on his abilities and the first person who came to mind was madara! I'm sure the story will tell you that madara manipulated tobi/obito and trained him which is why he knows so much!
