From the very first time I saw Salad I thought of this possibility; Karin is the mother (likely dead) and Sakura has stepped up and raised the kid like she's her own.
I thought it would be an excellent plot device that would have Sakura grow up, mature and achieve something outside medical-ninjutsu that really... made her a better person. Less selfish, more selfless - what better way than motherhood? What better way to show her love as something positive by taking care of his child, even if she's not biologically her own?
But... (had to happen, this is Kishi/Sakura we're talking about)... as usual it's one step forward, two steps back with Sakura.
Sakura reacts badly - and so she should, her own kid is questioning the validity of her parent's "marriage" and her own paternity. That shit there is abso-****ing-lutely messed up.
How did it come to that? What the hell kind of mother has Sakura been that her damaging the house and fainting doesn't seem to surprise Salad in the least?
Sakura's not even in full control of herself, she's demolished her own house by accident - a woman with her strength and temper did that within a foot of her own kid.
Not responsible. Not safe. She's dangerous.
Sakura couldn't give a straight answer about Sasuke wearing glasses or not. She knew the answer, we all do - but she lies (badly) to her kid about it? Why? If it isn't about Karin, then what's with the lying?
Sasuke hasn't been around in over ten years and she's still spewing out half-assed excuses and stories to her kid, who is hurt and confused over all this bullshit.
So we're back to the same MO; Sakura with tears in her eyes, Sakura being useless, Sakura making a bad situation worse, Sakura being selfish, Sakura with no empathy, Sakura lying her ass off, Sakura living in a delusion.
